Hi Stafford!

I can help if you're looking for a new website, a redesign, a boost for your traffic, or a hand setting up and managing your social media.

My website is here: Jack Webster Web Design with all my contact details, should you need anything.

I'm also publishing a series of articles aiming to try and help local businesses understand how to market themselves on the web. I'd love to hear if any of you find it useful. The first article is here and the second one will be published tomorrow. Any feedback or questions greatly appreciated.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Do you have some links to sites you have made?

Are you the tech guy? If so who is the arty guy?

Or do both sides of your brain work as well as each other ?

(Not being personal )

Yeah, I've got some links to some recent sites I've made:

Roofmooch, a page to buy and sell property for free.
Prime Resolution, a Mediation Service.
CB Electronics - a local electronics shop.
Julia Sanz - a freelance illustrator from Seville.

I do both, I started in design a long while back, but I've been mostly on the techie side for the past ~10 years or so. For the Roofmooch site above I worked alongside some designers that the client was already working with.

(If it interests anyone, of the sites above - the shop is Magento, one is Wordpress, one is a custom-built CMS (by me) and Roofmooch is a completely bespoke site built from the ground up.)

What do you think?

Thanks

I'm very aware of both the need for fluidity across all platforms and also the continual necessity to appear contemporary in design

Newer fonts, the use of white space, and the influence Instagram filters have on image perception are faster evolving than ever before.
Doing what was done today, tomorrow, is simply not enough

All the best

Enjoying a drop of red.

I'd really like to know where you got that from, because that bit about Instagram sounds like bollocks to me

LOL

I understand what bollocks means - would you care to elaborate?

An example of my bollocks can be found on the 5 billboards opposite The Waggon and Horses ( quote of the week )

There is an Ad for BMW mini cars - all the images appear to have a 'film' as in old cameras effect on them - the colours are not quite as sold ( I would guess )
The fact that Instagram is huge and people can add filters to their images will have had an influence on advertising and design and websites - I would hazard to guess

In terms of advertising images, that may well be the case (although it seems unwise to me to filter an image to the extent that you can't see the colour of the item you're selling, but never mind). In terms of graphics on a web page, instagram seems to me (i would hazard to guess as a consumer but not a techie) to about as relevant as the price of fish. The influence of filter technology is one thing (designers have been filtering on software such as photoshop forever) but to specifically reference Instagram in terms of web design made me want to avoid whichever company I assumed you'd copied the info from.

Back to the topic, I do like the little images Jack has used on his articles. Inject a bit of humour to break up a rather dry topic :)
