Thats been on the cards for a good while. IMO it cant come soon enough if only to tidy the place up

I want to start ( and that's all I will do ) a campaign to install a Blue Plaque on the site

To commemorate the plot which is of cultural and historical interest

As well as top bands such as ..... ( to be completed before publication ) the site saw witness to the battle of the Yeoman in the 1980's when a stag do from Cannock was refused entry and a mass brawl took place in the car park - Tarmac is trade name - but much of it was distributed in the direction on bouncers ( pre dates security staff ) - one if I recall correctly was named after a canon

Fleetwood Mac anyone?

You can have as many Blue Plaques as you like I'll even help installing them
But the place does need something doing with it

'She who must be obeyed', had her 21st there 30 years ago; I saw Blaster Bates in Concert there in the late 70's, and Nick Wellecome attended Stafford Soccer presentations as the celebraty guest, a few years ago!!

Will that go on the plaque? ;)

Finally the eyesore will be going. As it was the first pub in Stafford that I drank in, I might hold a candle light vigil the night before demolition begins.
Probably not though.

Enjoying a drop of red.
As it was the first pub in Stafford (indeed the only pub, anywhere) where someone threatened to glass me, I shall not be sorry to see it go, on the whole.

The only good thing it had going for it is it kept the rougher element of pub goers off Highfields from polluting the other pubs around town.

First time I went in the Royal Oak I got hit by the shrapnel of someone throw a glass at the wall.

I had many a happy night here when i was at Sixth Form, it was where all us cool Riso kids went to party. Easy to get in without age related questions and I remember many happy tiimes. Was the only place I ever had my handbag stolen though!!!!
