What are we watching on TV?

Finished two seasons of The Sinner and have enjoyed it. I've been watching it in reverse order, though, as unbeknownst to me Netflix started me on season 3 but I was told they're all stand-alone so I kept watching. I was also told it gets worse as it goes along so I figured if I watch it in reverse it will get better and it has!

Been watching The Repair Shop on the Beeb. It's nice to see craftspeople working and haven't they got some good ones on this programme. What's also nice is seeing the reactions of the owners when they first see the now pristine and working condition of the tatty old objects they bring in. Tears are quite common, especially with long held family items.
Those guys and gals who restore these things ... I tip my hat to them.

We've been watching "Unforgotten", absolutely brilliant, it's got me well and truly hooked. Can't wait for the final episode next Monday.

After husband has gone to bed I have been watching The Terror. He didn't fancy it at all but I'm 3 episodes in and really quite enjoying it. It's a fictionalised account of Captain Sir John Franklins lost expedition to the Arctic Northwest passage in 1845.

I wondered if @BobClay was watching seeing as you have a particular interest in ships?

Watched the first two episodes and enjoyed them. Good cast ... I like Jared Harris anyway after his performance in Chernobyl.

I think if I had been born an Eskimo, I'd have jumped out of my cot and started walking south straight off. Sod that climate. :P

On episode 8 of 'The Terror.' What were they thinking of trying for that Northwest Passage ? Even today with the ice in full retreat, I wouldn't fancy taking a ship up that way. This is not a place people are meant to be.
I've been in the Arctic, only in midsummer, and nowhere near as far North as these guys went in wooden sailing ships with feeble engines. It does seem like a Stephen King story, except those voyages at least did occur. Dramatic licence or not, it's a horror story.

PS Oops, had to correct Northeast Passage to Northwest Passage. I should know better. There is a Northeast Passage, along the North coast of Russia. You might get a nuke down your throat trying for it.

Maersk did send the Venta Maersk via that route in 2018, but it might still be a bit early in the year for people to get interested in it, unless the situation drags on a bit longer.

And, it was built with ice issues in mind.

Yes I did hear the Russians are using it also as that represents a serious chunk of their available coast line. Hence the enormous nuclear powered ice breakers they've built.
Suez being closed would be an incentive.

Binge watched to the end of 'The Terror.' Must thank @Carole for putting me onto this. I don't know how I missed it !!! Have since done some research into those two ships and found the wrecks were located just a few years ago, as were some of the frozen crew. None of them survived. That's a fact, but not a spoiler, as there's a nice little dramatic twist written into the final episodes.

You're ahead of me now then @BobClay
I'm on episode 7.

I'm really enjoying it. Different to the usual tv fare. Like you I also googled the ships and was surprised that they were only discovered a few years ago in near pristine condition.

I believe that more ships and men were lost on the various rescue missions that were sent out by assorted countries and individuals to find Franklin than on Franklin's expedition itself. Given Franklin's reputation as the man who ate his boots it is a little surprising that people were prepared to go with him.

I notice that BBC4 are showing the series 'Between the Lines' tonight. If this is the series made in the 90's, it's a sort of forerunner of 'Line of Duty' and I remember it being pretty good.
