What exactly is an AJ anyway?

Hi,

I've lived in Stafford since 1999 now, and often wondered at the naming
of the local taxi company.. "Anthony's AJs".

The name has the same grammatical strucure as something like "Tom's balls" :-
One possesive "s" vollowed by one plural "s". So presumably Anthony indeed has
several AJs, whatever they might be.

What is an AJ? Is this some euphamism? >;)

Michael.

Hehe! I've never noticed that before, but you're right DM!

Perhaps it's not quite a BJ! :quagmire:

Unless my memory is playing tricks on me, I think AJ's was a separate company to Anthony's, and they amalgamated at one particular time or other. I'm not sure about the grammatical 'error, though. Isn't there a taxi driver or two on here who's more knowledgeable than myself - which wouldn't be too difficult.

Right.

Originally there were three companies: Anthony's Taxis, AJ's Taxis and A1 Taxis.

Now they are Anthony's and AJ's, with A1 vanishing into oblivion. They are still 2 separate companies, but work together for convenience. I could explain why they do this, but it would bore you. This also explains the 3 different telephone numbers they have,

And no, I don't work for them.
