What I Did This Weekend - In Pictures!

One of today's tasks was to shift a load of this year's wood into the Greenhouse, to dry under the bench over the Summer. This was achieved just as the rain arrived.

It will dry steadily under there. That greenhouse is much less harsh than the the other, which has rather greater solar exposure, but, it will do the job.

It also gave me a chance to test my Solar Drying Rack - a grid salvaged from some defunct device in the past and given four small feet, for an airspace underneath. The woodpile is on plastic sheeting, to avoid filling the gravel with debris, so some of the lower items in the pile were wet.

Wet gloves left on the rack for just a few minutes in the greenhouse were dry again - much more efficient than I expected.

Definitely worthy of doing something similar, if you have the facilities.

And black gloves helped, of course.

My gloves always go hard when I leave them wet in the greenhouse, does this prevent that?
These are a sort of felty fabric material. They don't really seem to do that - in my experience, that is a particular feature of leather gloves, which I avoid, unless necessary.

The gloves on the right are the pair that I wear 90% of the time - they came from Lidl and have had about five years hard use - I regret not buying them all. I have actually washed them once and it considerably reinvigorated them.

I do have the luxury of not "having to do stuff at the wrong time", so I don't get things sopping wet very often.

A cold snap has meant a day in the Shed. The removable worktop over the cooker sits flush now, when it's in place, but not when any of the burners are not in the 'off' position.

Tests showed that having the oven on wasn't a real problem with the cover there, but it would be possible to envisage putting the top back in place, having removed a simmering kettle, for example, without turning the burner off.

This should make that situation fairly obvious, even before the smoke does...

I did consider using the handle of the supply valve from the cylinder as the 'interlock', but I think this will do the job.

Just finished putting new garden furniture together. Blue Diamond kit, powder coated framework. impressed with overall quality of finish and ease of the small amount of self assembly required.

Table is height adjustable for drinks or dining and the ends of the seats can be raised like a sunlounger.

Like that. Where did you get it from?

Another cake, this one for a friend’s birthday today. I’d bought a gadget a few years ago to make roses but had to watch a you tube video to remind me of the process.
A bit time consuming but I was rather pleased with the result.
I’d quite like to go on a course to learn how to decorate cakes properly.

This weekend's project is to fit an EPAS system to a car which, technically is not difficult but has so far been done to the accompaniment of much swearing on my part and admonishment on Jr's part.

Interspersed with a couple of dog walks on the Chase and watching Mrs p do the gardening.
