What is the best pub in Stafford....

My girlfriend and I are still working out way through every pub in Stafford but in the town centre you're spoilt for choice, depending on what you're looking for. The Market Vaults has great burgers and a decent pint, The Sun does good pub grub and good local ales (and a decent beer festival), The Swan has a nice outdoor courtyard, and both Spoons are actually decent as Wetherspoons goes. No7 and The Floodgate are top notch independent places that are very popular.

A bit further afield and I'd say the Spittal Brook wins.

Interested by that, as we wrote the Spittal Brook off a few years back. Changed hands or just improved?

tempted to try the Spittal Brook....especially the beer garden....

Kings Arms on Peel Terrace is always good. Friendly atmosphere as always. Ed & Vicky have done a great job with the place. Market Vaults is always a fav as well.

Drinking is most definitely a yearly activity. However, I only visit the pubs to the north of Stafford when walking to and from the mighty Rangers on match days.

Yes Kings Arms is a very friendly place as back street boozers go, and they have an ever changing selection of guest ales. Really enjoy a drink in there.

I've decided real ale doesn't like 30c heat

I may have to do something strange and drink bottled lager

:better:

My two favourite pubs are the floodgate and no.7. Choosing my favourite is like choosing which child I love the most!

We are very fortunate in Stafford to have lots of very good real ale pubs but these two stand out for me.
