What do people think about CAMRA's new on-line pub guide http://whatpub.com/ ?

Not sure if I should have posted this here, in Computers or in Geeks. No doubt I will be told if I got it wrong

It looks a bit 1999

Just off to the Nezzi for some real ale . .

What do you think?

PS Are you the Noah from the short film of the same name?

They have a real cider filter! I already know the few round here but this could be useful when away.

Seems to be updated more than other sites (the theatre bar and the Market Vaults are listed). Descriptions are a bit bland but plenty of basic information on a huge number of pubs throughout the country.

It does look a bit on the sparse side. I was recently made aware of this site - http://www.perfectpint.co.uk/ - which is in the same sort of ball park but a good deal more spangly.

Whether more spangliness makes for a better website is a matter that i don't feel qualified to answer, though when i looked at the perfectpint whatsit it had quite a lot of out-dated info on it for this area.

Presumably it will depend on contributions from 'users', applicable to both sites, as to how useful they end up being.

Fair comment

I don't really want it more spangly but I didn't find the graphics easy on the eye
so wouldn't be tempted to return.

When I visit a town new to me I do check on the CAMRA guide ( paperback) and then do a search on Google for the pub website, as my book is a few years old .
