The only half-decent school that I went to had speech days and other events here. Own cushion essential.

Looks a bit tarted up now, when I was there it was just as the Romans had left it, but still perfectly usable after most of two thousand years.

big up yo' school in here..

obviously, walton was the best, but if any of you reprobates had the misfortune of going elsewhere then we will at least patronise you by pretending to be interested to hear about it :v:

i'm sure andreas can pimp walton high more verbosely than myself (despite him having possibly the worst memory of any living creature), but here are a few highlights of attending this glorious institution:

ice cream van - parked on-site during lunch, but was subsequently moved to outside the school gates.. this mother lover must have made a farking killing flogging crap sweets from the cash n carry for ~5000% cost.. seriously - those smiley faces for 10p?? he must have paid about a quid for a box of those things..

snack trolley - all the wonders of the world, presented in heavily sugared form.. split donuts, iced shortcake, flapjacks - the list was endless..

mr. r******s - even before my sisters' time, there were unsubstantiated rumours about his penchant for sheep.. this (obviously - duh!) also meant he like boys.. cue years and years of endless torment for the poor, spittle-lipped bummer.. imagine my glee when a girl i know, who both attended and subsequently worked at walton, told me about how he had been suspended pending investigation following alleged "inappropriate advances on a [male] pupil" :v:

shit - my lunch is over so i'm going to have to cut this short :( i'll leave the rest of you to fill in the blanks!

Ice cream van was hated by school kitchen staff when I worked there , but must have been paying the school quite a bit of dosh to park on the premises. Lots of the kids 'dinner money' was spent at the van. Our boss complained but it stayed as it was bringing in money for the school.....(Just as I was leaving the school kitchens, they were bringing in a different system of paying for school meals)

I went to Highfields infant school , hated every minute of it and the teachers hated me.

Leasowes junior school - as an 'outsider' I remember my first day very well. Stood all the new kids in front of the blackboard and all the others who had just moved up from Leasowes infant school were sticking their tongues out at us . The teachers hated me, especially Miss Vickory, who belted me across the head for not writing in their style of writing and I finished up in hospital having an ear operation because of her. Hated every minute of that school as well.

Walton high school - I was the first year in there when it opened. Teachers and head didn't like me because my dad was head of maths in Great Wyrley and Cheslyn Hay high schools, and told them my maths teacher was crap and he was ending up teaching loads of my mates after school . Also Mr Day, the head master at the time , wanted money for the school fund every term , and my dad told him to do as their school did and organise events to raise funds rather than demanding money off parents 3 times a year. He refused to pay it, I was the only one who had to say "I haven't got it" in front of the whole class every term and get a telling off....

I HATED my school years.

Had to go to Blessed bills in the days of the miners strike in the 70's , as Walton had no fuel to keep the school running. That was a bit of a shock to the system! They actually had prefects , which Walton didn't, who were standing in the stairways and corridors making sure everyone walked on the left. In Walton it was a free for all. Run so strictly compared to Walton .

Son went to Walton High school . He did well getting his A levels but hardly any support at all in 6th form. (unless you were one of the favourites , which he wasn't)
