We don’t eat red meat too often but tonight we were looking forward to steak and chips, pan fried mushrooms with garlic.
Having rammed the freezer with goodies (or so I thought) I now can’t find the steaks.
Ive taken absolutely everything out of the freezer, still no steaks.

Side of salmon it is then.

My turn back at cooking for a while.

Pork in Cider sauce, mashed potatoes and savoy cabbage.

On arriving home from school the minime asked whats for tea, she was not impressed, informed me she hates pork-in-cider sauce, and stomped off to mcdonald's.

I've been looking forward to it all week!

Mexican salad!

Salad + spiced couscous + tomatoes + pepper + radish + beetroot + spring onions + red onions + jalapenos + spiced chickpeas

(+ the husband polished off the left over doritos...)

Yum! Feeling healthy and proud that I made it past the ship shop!

In the Poly canteen, you had to specify your beverage and whether or not there was to be milk in it - e.g., coffee with.

They also provided, amongst many sweet options, a sort of meringue thing with a raspberry sauce drizzled over its convoluted pale surface.

A lad on the course had one every day with his coffee with.

Someone once pointed out the unfortunate anatomical appearance of this confectionary and it became the general term to be used when ordering it.

Every day, he would ask for "Coffee with, and a dog's brain, please".

In Stychfields Canteen, Gammon with a Peach Cap was known fairly universally as Gammon with a Dutch Cap.

Tell me about this.....

Not much to tell really. I usually cheat by using shop bought sweet pickled beetroots but if I can stand the smell fresh beetroot marinated in honey and balsamic vinegar is better. Tesco's sweet pickled beetroot doesn't have a vinegar taste so I use those if I'm cheating.

Then just put the beetroot in the oven for about 20 minutes (longer if cooking fresh) with whatever else you're baking.

They go really well with a curry and a homemade raita but also work with most other dishes.
