Had a lovely spicy Chili last night and have stew cooking away for tonight...This leads me to my problem...as you can all see I love stews, currys, chilis and the odd Chinese takeaway, however, Ive recently been diagnosed as diabetic and if all the internet says is true, Im going to have to give up all these lovely carbs! (Not seen the diabetes nurse yet though, so im going to stuff as many as I can this week till my appt!) Any lovely carb free meals or recipes?

Asda pizza again tonight. Got OFSTED in tommorrow so work has been mental, and will continue to be so until Friday. No way I can be bothered to cook, and I have some ciders chilling already to relax me when I get back!

Burgers tonight ... not on burger buns though, have started putting burgers on muffins! The works with the burger ... cheese, bacon, onions and salad!

Had a disaster with tea tonight so instead of gammon and potatoes and veg, we have ended up with potatoes, cabbage and . . . . . . . . scrambled egg! Was actually quite nice, all hail the humble egg. :) Off to stuff myself with coffee cake now :)

Fish finger butty's (Normandy butter and whole grain bread) and a bit of bacon in honey, and of course home brewed beer, the standards are falling but still delicious.
Apple and pear crumble with cream for pud.

Thinking ahead ... decided to cook on Saturday rather than get a Chinese. The menu is going to be crab cakes, macaroni cheese and garlic broccoli. How does that sound?

We always have macaroni as a main with some garlic bread on the side, rather than as a side as the Americans do. Sounds delish though. My husband would be particularly impressed with the garlic broccoli as he would happily eat garlic with everything! Do you just stir fry them together?

Blanch the garlic and put into iced water to stop cooking process, then fry with as much garlic as you like!

Fishy Friday. Nobody in our household really likes fish so the nearest thing we have is frozen battered fish, chips and mushy peas, which we have tonight. Now I dont know if its an age thing, but I keep seeing things that I usually hate and think 'that looks really nice'. The last thing I tried was a piece of salmon, guess what? I still dont like salmon! Anyhow, alongside our frozen battered fish Ive also bought some yellowfin sole - it looked really nice, wish me luck!

Enjoying a drop of red.
EoE takeaway (which should be here in 20 mins) tonight as neither the wife nor I can be bothered to cook after a hard day doing nothing...

With the obligatory bottle of red, obviously. This time a pleasant little Burgundy.

Day 1 of my new diabetic diet. *sigh* The rest of the family are having sweet an sour chicken and rice. I will be having my bit of chicken with some courgette, bean sprouts, fennel, broccoli and spring onion with a bit of garlic. And maybe some of this Quinoa. Or maybe just the veg. Im undecided.

I had to google that, never heard of the thing! (in case anyone is interested, this was the first result I got)

Despite showing a fair few symptoms of diabeties, and being tested as borderline twice, luckily it seems the reason my blood sugar levels are so high is merely alcohol and red bull abuse. Yay me!
