What's for dinner/tea?

Enjoying a drop of red.
Yesterday we were lazy,, and I mean REALLY lazy, we thought it would be a really good idea to buy one of those 'shove-it-in-the-oven' frozen meals from Iceland. Chinese chicken curry and chicken fried rice - how something can taste awful and have no taste at the same time us beyond me, NEVER AGAIN.

Today wasnt much better. I had found a recipe for beef and broccoli that I thought would be nice, MrLittleme prepped it before work and put it in the slow cooker for when we got home from work. We had it with noodles.... We might as well of poured a jar of soy sauce on the beef & broccoli... So not every home made meal is a success...

Pasta American tomorrow (my day cooking).

I am wondering if we eat to many 'big' meals.... @proactive seems to have lighter evening meals, so I'm wondering if everyone is the same? Do you have a large lunch? A smaller meal at night? Supper? We rarely eat lunch/dinner but always have a big evening meal, quite late too, 7/7.30pm, is everyone the same?
Don't know where you got that idea from. Our main meal is usually in the evening. Only occasionally do we have something light.

As it happens tonight we had bacon and black pudding salad. The vegan had salad with some fake cheese stuff that neither looks like or tastes like cheese. She won't be buying that again.

Dinner is my main meal, smoothie for breakfast and I snack on fruit if I'm hungry! We've been eating around 4/5pm but usually later when things were 'normal'!

@proactive Which cheese was it? I haven't tried many but I had some Koko cheddar recently which was nice on a sandwich!

Twice you had toast based evening meals.... I think our family eat to many big meals... My diet is shocking, black coffee for breakfast.... Then mostly black coffee for the rest of the day until evening meal.... But, after our large evening meal we usually have some kind of supper.... I never eat breakfast or lunch (afternoon meal) unless I'm at home with the minime (to set a good example, 2 x per week, lunch only)... We have salad twice a week in summer (chicken salad, or homemade quiche and salad).... But I do wonder if we eat too much....

It's not a criticism, I'm just interested....

I think it depends on your activity levels - if you're on your feet all day you'll need the fuel!

I often don't get time to eat lunch at work but don't think I could make it through the day without breakfast!

I have either skyr yoghurt with fruit or eggs for my breakfast, and lunch is some Jack Monroe concoction or soup and bread (need to stop eating bread) then we have a large meal at tea. Tonight was stir fry, last night was salmon with veg and mash, I have just taken gammon out of the freezer for tomorrow's.

Coincidence. Plus the fact that Mrs p spend the day driving to and back from several work locations checking progress on the social distancing etc front ready for reopening next week and I've been in Malvern all day on business so neither of us could be bothered to sort anything out.

Phew, I was beginning to worry.

MrLittleme will often eat lunch, secretly at work, he's a terrible snacker too, he, has a stash of, Chocolate at work, and has a very sweet tooth. Tonight after our beef & broccoli & noodles, he and minime have had custard donuts, I had Greek yoghurt with a spoon of Apricot Jam, I don't have the same sweet tooth as them, pudding for me is fruit or yoghurt, although I can be tempted with cheesecake, tiramisu or sherry trifle.

There was a newspaper article a few months ago about the differences in people's diets in different countries, it was really interesting... And I'm a little obsessed with food....

I'm a little obsessed with food....

I'm the same, I love reading about it, eating it, looking at pictures of it!

I love finding a new recipe - we have our own little notebook that we write our favourites in!

I plan all our meals a week in advance (two in lock down) and get I get excited about what to make!

I even have a little chalk board I write the weekly meals on and cross them off!

I feel I have admitted a little too much...

Unfortunately the OH is far too much the northern stereotype, I'm amazed he'll eat curry, so to add new recipes to the repitoire is hard. As he used to be away 2 nights a week I used to eat allsorts of interesting stuff. Pearl barley risotto is the thing I miss!

We can be eating 1 meal, and i'm planning what we'll have the next evening. Luckily the youngest adores home cooked food, so whatever I give him, he'll normally eat. As long as it isn't too heavily laden with spuds or has any involvement with vegetables.
I will admit to having a seriously sweet tooth, our fridge is always packed with chocolate.
Trying my best lose weight tho, went Sainsbogs earlier and got loads of fruit, which i'll have for dinner at work.
I have 2 weddings go to this year, I don't want to look so hideously fat on the photos. Even if I lose just 2 stone, i'll be happy.

Every single week I plan meals in advance and write a shopping list.
Every single week I ask the husband what he wants / fancies.
Every single week he says he's not bothered.
Every single week I read him the list.
Every single week he says 'Yeah whatever'

Guaranteed!

Every single week he complains he doesn't like something / doesn't fancy it.

Grrrrr!

I had a load of mixed fruit, again.
I just know sumat explosive is going happen very soon with the amount i'm eating.
I apologise in advance to any Castletown residents if there are any problems with blockages in the sewers. It may have been me.

I am wondering if we eat to many 'big' meals, I’m wondering if everyone is the same? We rarely eat lunch/dinner but always have a big evening meal, quite late too, 7/7.30pm, is everyone the same?

We eat our main meal in the evening at about 7.00pm. (It used to be later before lockdown when husband was commuting from Birmingham).

I do love food but we are careful with what we eat.
I do love this thread and observing what you all cook, but we just can’t eat some of the lovely recipes for health reasons, no cooking with cream etc.

I don’t do breakfast but at about 11.00am I’ll probably re heat last night’s leftovers. Yes, sometimes salmon pasta, or curry, at 11.00am, I don’t waste food.
If we don’t have leftovers then I’ll make a sandwich.

At some point I’ll make a fruit smoothie with banana, yoghurt, milk and strawberries.

Evening meal is usually something easy and healthy.
Tonight was salmon side, jersey royal potatoes and courgettes.

We eat fish most days, then chicken once or twice a week and beef about twice a month.
I’d say we probably do the Mediterranean diet thing, loads of fresh fruit and veg, and salad, and mainly fish which we both adore.
We never ever do pudding unless we’re having a dinner party, ( not now obviously).

Husband can’t cook, won’t cook, so he is genuinely grateful for what is put in front of him unless it’s a hot curry or anything with chilli.

But healthy eating for the most part, today we had sausage rolls.
Pastry is just such a lovely thing.
