Whats going on in the field next to the castle?

There is still movement going on there, but it proceeds at the pace of the snail.

Perhaps they intend to open in 2071 to coincide with the 1000th anniversary of the foundation of the Castle. At this rate even that is looking unlikely.

It looks a mess to be honest, when it rained heavily there was almost a lake in the middle of the site

Four years later and still no extended/revamped golf course, Now if I was fortunate enough to own such a desirable stretch Iwould be inclined to cash-in and sell the green acres to a currently unamed housing developer.........

Does anyone know what exactly is being dumped up there?

I was in the environs today, and am beginning to suspect that it may be the origin of the Stink! that has been elsewhere remarked upon.

I ♥ cryptic crosswords
Take a sample by night

They are dumping at the northern end of the site by the M6 at the moment

Then buy a 1960's chemistry set

Canna fail

Were you on one of the footpaths between the course and the edge of Castle fields estate? I've noticed a smell there the last 2 weeks, but worked out it's stagnant water in one of the ponds after my ball got too close...

Lucy I don't think there is any suggestion that Withnail himself is the cause of the stink. I like your style though - some shrewd investigative skills there and not afraid to ask the tough questions.

No, this is up near the 'new' course with all the lorries and the dumping of demolition waste - from whence one knows not.

Although i wouldn't normally put it past me to be the cause of such odourousness, in this instance i am confident in my blamelessness.

Selective quoting is a wonderful thing. ;). I think it's top soil being shipped in now, there's always lorries queuing up in a morning but I have no idea if it smells.

Hahah just read this thread and having just moved to stafford, i haven't had to experience this for four years, can't believe it's been going on that long and is progressing so slowly! Am going to start playing golf up there but don't fancy that stench!

I have no idea who is behind it but its:

A) Being going on for ages
B) Looks a mess, they seem to just move earth around and get more earth delivered
c) I am pretty sure they are filling the site up with the rubble from the old tesco's as lots of the trucks are the same demolition company
d) It looks about as far from a golf course as I expect you could get, infact last year there was a hole filled with water which looked more like a pond!

Strange development.

The course isn't being improved, a new one is being built. You do talk half story shite Basil, especially if it's new members. What about those of us who have been members forever?

Half story, half golf course.........
