Fairly! I shall check my own online bill and as soon as it shows up I will confirm either way. However, I can't imagine a 5p call would not count as a "free-minute" when a call to a mobile costs 12.5p. It is definitely not a number where the person being called earns anything from it, like an 0870 number is.

that doesn't matter, i'm afraid.. free minutes only cover "geographical" numbers (e.g. 01, 02 and 03) and other mobile numbers (e.g. most, but not all, 07 numbers)..

i am 99% certain that 0844 is not covered by free minutes..


edit: defo not free with o2, and i'm pretty sure they are one of the best when it comes to charges, so i would imagine it's the same for everyone:

Inclusive minutes can not be used for calls made in the UK to:

* non-geographic numbers (starting 08, 05) which are charged at 20p per minute, except calls to 0871 numbers which are charged at 35p per minute;
* non-standard or “special†07 numbers (all those 07 numbers that are not specifically included in your inclusive minutes, including 07 numbers allocated to network operators in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Mann), which are charged at 25p per minute, except Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Mann numbers which are charged at 20p per minute, 076 numbers which are charged at 35p per minute and 070 numbers which are charged at 50p per minute. A list of the 07 numbers which are not included in your inclusive minutes and their charges can be viewed at http://www.o2.co.uk/mobilestariffs/tariffs/specialnumbers. Please note that it is updated regularly as new number ranges are allocated or we become aware that the use of existing ranges has changed; or

Well spotted! I will change the line to "calls cost no more than 5 pence per minute from a BT landline. Calls from a mobile will cost considerably more."

TBF - Stafford has had its fair share of UFO stories, although that reached a peak about 20 years ago (remember the triangle of lights, anyone?). The current theme is "big cats" on the Chase. However, if anyone has seen either, or ghosts, or been abducted by aliens etc, please get in touch, as there has got to be a great story there somewhere!
