I am thinking of buying a new sofa and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good place to buy one from. I would like to buy a good quality leather sofa, their are lots of leather sofa's online but i would like to try one before buying. Not sure about the big chains as have heard they aren't very good quality but don't want to pay to much either. Any advise appreciated. Thanks!

Colin Grigson may be wanting to part with his leather sofa - could be worth approaching him. I've sat on it and it seems OK to me.

i got a new corner sofa about 2months ago from ebay! i went to dfs and found i sofa i liked but it woudn't get delivered till 8weeks and i needed it asap. so i went home and found the same sofa from a suplier on ebay for about £400 cheaper with free p&p and delivery within a week.the warehouse was in scotland aswell! i did have to help the delivery driver unload it off the lorry and carry it to the house at about 6 in the morning. but well worth it for the £400+ savings :D

I love my Ikea sofas - though beware the delivery - they don't tell you it's next day delivery from when you pay until after you have paid. We thought we could book a slot but when we went to book they just told us when it would arrive. Which meant grovelling to the parents for someone to sit in whilst we were at work.

DFS sofa's are OK and the interest free credit helps. SCS on the other hand are not so good. However you dont need to be a furniture expert to see how poor the quality is of the sofa's in that place.
There are lots of furniture shops about that will do some nice stuff, but I cant think of many in Stafford. You will need to head out of town.
Personally I would advise to go for a firmer seat that is less likely to sag and look tired. Avoid the added extra's like the plague as they ramp up the cost. Scotch guard and the like is a total waste of money. If possible avoid the footstool as well as they quite often cost almost as much as the sofa in places like DFS!

I got a leather sofa a couple of years ago for DFS and I love it, really happy with the service and quality, my only issue with it is that we found one we love more after we'd bought it :(
Stuck with the DFS one but there is a shop in Matlock called Indigo that do some really fab stuff - a little bit more expensive than DFS but not by a huge amount and it's one of a kind stuff, I say it's worth a look.
I went to IKEA a few weeks ago looking for a chair - I hadn't realised how hard it was to just buy a chair until that day, every furniture shop I tried has a 6-10 week waiting time, except IKEA picked up a lovely little chair at a very good price and was sat in it that evening, cant grumble with that.

Have a look here http://www.antiques-atlas.com/sites/antiqueleatherco/mainhome.htm They have hundreds of antique ones in stock and they also have new ones. The antique ones are excellent leather none of this Italian/Turkish leather. Most antique dealers buy from this guy.

We went and bought a 3, 2 and 1 Chesterfield suite. A new one. Excellent quality English leather. Most Chesterfields are manufactured in the North West.
