sorry for breaking the pun chain, but i only just noticed that this place (pun deliberately omitted lol) was closed that other day, despite the fact i drive past it every day!

anyone know why? it was hardly the best chippy in stafford, but it was ok, and it must have done tremendous business - it was on the way home for a lot of commuters, round the corner from a couple of pubs, viccy park, etc..

It was closed the other day - then it was open. ...And now it's closed. The opening times are all over the shop. It's a shame really as it was a good 'un in its time. It's quite sad to see the drop in fortune to both The Windmill and Atlas chippy when Props and Reynolds closed.

I dont know of any chippie that made chips as good as the chip van that used to be outside the top of the world in the 1980s and fryed in beef dripping

Went to Windmill Chippy tonight, and was greeted by the original female owner.

Apparently it never changed ownership, she spent some weeks ill in hospital and has since paid someone else to manage it. The chips tasted every bit as good as I remember when she was there before. :)
