Window cleaner and burglary

Hi all,

A friend of mine in Wild Wood has his house broken into last week during the day when everyone was at work. He got a new window cleaner the day before the break in and was thinking that maybe they could have been involved. The window cleaner pushed a flier through his door some days before.

I didn't think it likely at first but thinking more about it, a window cleaner is able to look through all your windows to see what sort of stuff you have without arousing suspicion. They also get to know when you're not at home.

My friend only had gold stolen and nothing else even thought he had some silver and electronic stuff. If they're only interested in gold then surely they somehow knew there was some there before they broke in? I can't imagine burglars would want to break in without first knowing it's worth their time.

I won't name the window cleaner as it's just speculation but if my friend's suspicions are right then surely other people have had the same thing happen and if so it would be good to collate the information.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Sounds like your friend ought to take his suspicions to the police and let them try to clear up whether it is this window cleaner or not for the sake of all concerned.

I had that flier through the door as well on Wildwood and saved it just in case......now gone into the recycling!

If only gold was taken, was it gold that was left on display? To be honest most people work 9-5, if I wanted to burgle someone I'd just watch for their car as most people nowadays are too lazy to walk anywhere. Walk through an estate agent few times during the week and you'll easily spot target houses. I suspect the window cleaner is just a coincidence, and it's just a general every day scutter that was straight down to one of our many cash 4 gold purveyors.

My friend thinks the window cleaner was a coincidence. There's been some similar thefts around Stafford most likely by the same people and none of them had a window cleaner.

Don't think it's likely to be connected to the window cleaner myself now.....If it's the burglaries reported in last Wednesdays Express & star In Lansdowne Way,Wildwood it appears that £50,000 of Asian Gold was taken so,in my opinion, obviously someone who must have known they would have that sort of jewellry in the house anyway.

I never use anyone that sticks a flyer through the door.

Also, UPVC windows with the bevels on the outside are easy to remove. You can prise out the bevels and then lift the window out. Always best to have the bevels on the inside.
