Wanted (Wooden) External Door Fitted

Following my reluctance to fork out nigh on £1,600 for a composite door and then trying (and failing miserably) to plug the gaps in my existing door (it's warped), I am looking at buying a new wooden door from Wickes but don't trust myself to fit it.

Does anybody have anyone they'd recommend? Cheers.

It's quite a bit of work to fit a door to an existing frame - and you need to be sure that the new door can be reduced in size sufficiently to fit - if a miracle hasn't happened and it actually fits the existing frame. You also need to consider where the lock can be fitted, although the keep on the frame could always be moved. If the door has been reduced in width, you need to be sure there's still enough 'meat' for the lock to fit into, particularly if it's a mortice lock.

Hi you could try Simon at SML windows he fits composite doors for around £300 and I would presume he would get a cheaper better composite door

Cheers folks for the heads up / advice. At the moment, I have a provisional order for a brand new wooden door, new frame and threshold seal, lock, handle etc. for just over £400, all in. However, I will bear this thread in mind if it goes belly up. Ta.
