Hello all.... My first post!

A little bit of self promotion and public service announcement. I run the Stafford Weather website (http://staffordweather.co.uk/) and it contains everythng you need to know about the weather in Stafford. All the data is from my weather station (I don't get out much! ;)) which is up on the top of Western Downs so it actually is the Stafford weather. If you are the slightest bit interested in the weather (like the fact Stafford has 201mm of rain in June!) then have a look and let me know what you think and if there is anything else you would like to see.

Welcome to The Forum, Timeflies :D

Had a quick peek at the site - looks great. I'll have to give it a better interrogation when I get the time. You mention your "own weather station" - what exactly does this involve? Do you manually take readings, and input them, or have you got all kinds of meteorological bells & whistles hooked up to your computer, directly feeding it data? Sounds brilliantly geeky!

It is as you say very geeky! I have a electronic weather station (rain tipper bucket, fan aspirated tempreture and humidity sensor at the end of the garden and an aneometer (speed and direction) on the roof. This all links wirelessly to the PC which updates every 2 seconds and transmitts to the website! Its all automatic.

The station is a Davis VP2 wireless (see http://www.davisnet.com/weather/products/weather_product.asp?pnum=06153) and is pretty accurate. Oh and its all solar powered, so no one can say I dont do my bit for the environment.

I check the weather regular as I have a large family and lots of washing. I check it by looking at mr labcms penis, if it lies to the left it will be sunny, if it lies to the right it is going to rain and if it's straight up, well, who wants to do washing on a day like that anyway.

Is Mr.labcm's ol' fella not playing ball, so to speak? For what it's worth, I don't think any weatherman/ woman would be prepared to predict that far away. I mean, they have a problem guessing what's going to happen the next day, let alone a week in advance. Just take your pac-a-macs and you'll be fine. Once there, why don't you have a go on the rapids to begin with and you'll be soaking wet throughout the rest of the day anyway!!

Website is down at the moment as the laptop that hosts it blew up the other day. Anyone know where I can get a cheap as chips laptop with a seriel port. When I say cheap I mean cheap as long as it runs Windows ME+ its all good as the software would probably run on an old 486...

Hello everybody. I have decided to put the Stafford Weather website to bed as it was becoming expensive and to time consuming to maintain.

However do not fear , I will now be using the automated facilities of Weather Underground to get all the same data onto the web and its still in real time!!!

Head on over to http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=ISTAFFOR8 see the weather as it happens in Stafford!

I should be getting the webcam back up and running as soon as time allows.
