I think some need to get off their high horses about this place without hearing both sides of any story, especially after what I heard about one member staff who has left is true.

Some may think the new bosses are arseholes that could be so, but this doesn't seem entirely a case of black and white.

Personally I no longer care. I just know I shan't bother again under the current stewardship.

Business is a hard place when you piss off your customers.

I dont have a high horse but I did once hanker after a Shetland pony when I was about 6.

To wipe out your entire workforce and ambiance of a decent pub without giving the staff a chance to show their mettle is not the way to do business in my book, hence they won't be getting any income from me.

Be interesting to hear what you've heard though.

Simple post to promote some pub grub, not after a slanging match I see my posts are not welcome so this will be the last if you wish although I was sure this is suppose to be a public and friendly forum. Very childish if you ask me bitching over the Internet at someone just trying to help the pub grow where I work and I am nothing to do with what went on before I'm lookimg out for me and my income we all have to earn money to live dont we :(

Sorry but Tap is closed not sure what is happening now but I know I don't have a job no more so not looking like it will open again.

You found another job pretty quick then?

Please be assured my comments are not aimed at you but the previous staff have been treated appallingly by all accounts (except Gareth who apparently knows better but hasn't justified his/her comments).

This has pee'd off a number of ex customers hence why the pub is now getting negative feedback on this forum.

Please don't take things personally, they are not aimed at you in any way.

I'm not taking sides in all this, I feel that the old staff were hard done by, but most allegations on Facebook were deleted recently which seems odd if truthful.

That said, my local is now the bird.

My posts were all deleted of there page -_- I'm happy to tell anyone what happened and I'd quite happily do it infront of the new owners but I can't as we are not welcome In there anymore due to what happened .. people can believe what they like on the situation but I was there and after the way I was spoken too it took everything in me not to slap the person shouting in my face everybody is entitled to there opinion and if you like the pub cool it's a nice little place .. I am not a liar as much as Janet and Tim would like to say I am ..I guess that's why I'm barred .. happy drinking and eating in which ever establishment you desire none of the former staff care if you go in there .. the only reason I have anger for them is they tried telling people we were thieves which is a horrible accusation to throw around when they know we had just started new jobs (me and another former barmaids from there)

I've always found the previous bar staff to be lovely. I don't know what's gone on but it doesn't feel right, as such I have stayed away. Plenty of other pubs

Whilst I was enjoying a very nice pint in there recently a couple came in and asked for a wine and a coffee. The reply from the landlord was that he could do make up a mug of coffee but hadn't got a coffee machine. Ok there is limited space behind the bar there but I think they are missing a trick by not doing hot drinks.
As Bod Dylan sang Times Are A Changing, as John Marwood wrote somewhere else there has been a sharp decline in beer sales. Coffee seems to have replaced beer as the drink of choice and whilst pubs should concentrate on their core product they should have hot drinks available.
A couple of weeks ago I picked up my coupons and lingered thinking to have a pint whilst filling them in but thought it was a bit too early for a pint so ended up going to The Swan for a very nice Americano.

I think when the MarketVvaults tried it with a fancy coffee machine that actual take up of people wanting coffee didn't warrant the upkeep / maintenance / counter space. Decent machines need to warm up and be in pretty much constant use - so one or two coffees a day isn't going to make much sense to have a big machine. Better to have some filters or indeed decent instant for how many people ask for hot drinks in bars.

Maybe more coffee shops should sell wine?

I think that's the model for places like Verso Lounge going for a mixed clientele. I read an article on the opening of the Little George in Eccleshall which said they were advertising as a brew house, not just the traditional beer aspect but also brewing coffee as well.
As you say investment into expensive equipment has to be weighed up with the potential extra revenue but pubs have to take on board the marked change in customer tastes.
