I went into the new Clothesland shop today and brought four items for £1 each - a coat, a pair of skinny jeans, a cardigan and a top - really pleased with all of them.
The shop seems to be the sort of place you can go into one day and not find a thing (as I did on Monday) and then the next time find loads of things. It reminds me a bit of the New Life shop at Cannock - kind of messy looking with odd items and sizes but have a good rummage through and see if you can find some bargains as I did!

I forgot to mention - most of the clothing in Clothesland are seconds - I knew this and it doesn't bother me as I'm nifty with a needle if it isn't too complicated. I checked my items really well - I knew the coat needed a few stitches to the belt loop which is fine - especially as its a really good coat for £1. Only noticed when just trying on though the blouse has a torn seam (mendable) and the cardigan has loose loops (mendable) but the zip on the jeans is broken and isn't mendable - shame as they fit perfectly - going to wear them anyway as they are so skintight they aren't going to be falling down!

I think the tailors in the market can change zips (if they're still there, can't remember seeing them last time) or sometimes dry cleaners also do repairs/alterations.

I can't remember if the tailors are still there either - although as we speak I'm hoping I won't need them. I've just run some WD40 down both sides of the zip, as far as I could tell its just that a couple of the teeth had gone wonky because the zip is really stiff. It's running fine now and hasn't burst open again for the last 5 minutes or so!

I notice from their Facebook page, they are looking for a team leader if anyone is job hunting at the moment.
They require 5years fashion retail experience...
Today I purchased 11 items from Clothesland at £1 each - I love them all! Anyone else been in yet?
I went early in the week but didn't find a thing :( really disappointed as I hoped to grab a bargain but maybe on a different day I may have more luck....

Went in myself today and was really disappointed... the shop is so crammed (with clothes rails that is, not people although there were a few in) that it was impossible to get in and look at things. Add to that that none of the stuff appeared to be separated by sizes (like T K Maxx do) or on hangers that showed the sizes.... basically a complete waste of time unless I was likely to check every item.

It also looked like a jumble sale in parts, with clothes that look like they had come from a tramp they were so dirty looking. Ok, most stuff is £1 but if I can't find stuff that fits me or that looks good enough to wear, then i'm not going to part with my hard earned.....

Finally, what appeared to be two staff (although could have been customers I suppose) were sat on the floor at the back, sorting through piles of clothes whilst texting their mates and eating pasties..... which is why I am surprised about the "5 years fashion retail experience" line above.... its hardly a designer fashion house... if you can put a jumper on a hanger and hang it on a rail, surely you can do the job.

Caveat - not wanting to slag off a local business here, I only speak as I find and hopefully some of the above may lead to improvements being made.

EDIT: Good luck if you do apply Jade, from what I know of you on here, you would be perfect and could perhaps address some of the issues from above.

Maybe that's why they've decided that they do need somebody who knows what they're doing and our Jade certainly fits that bill...?

Aw thanks guys- the job is right up my street and I've told them as much in my application!
URL... I do know what you mean about the shop ... however it is difficult to keep a shop tidy when people are bargain hunting.... Primark is a prime example of this... it always looks like a jumble sale as people pick things over but it hasn't done them any harm.
As I mentioned in a previous thread its the sort of shop you would need to go into every few days as stock moves so quickly... I didn't find anything on my first visit but I've brought 15 items since then. So I'd recommend giving them another try :)
