I'm a big fan of the Sun but I was disappointed on Thursday- there were only two guest ales on and one of those was the perpetual Tiger.

Havent been in for a while, but managed a swifty on Saturday teatime, a really comfy vibe to the place, nice and warm and a subdued hubbub of conversation in the background. Usually go for light, low strength beers but had the Plum Porter for a change, wonderful pint. Wish I'd had more time, could have easily whiled away an hour or two. Will have to start dropping in for a post work pint now and again.

Thanks.
Have to say the feeling of wellbeing was immense. All was calm in Trumpetland for a little while.

Dropped into the sun just now, no real cider other than bounds scrumpy. Plenty of bottles of fruit based shite if that's your thing though. Went for a thatchers gold and was charged £3.70, certainly my last visit for a while!

What is really worrying is that the yard now has one of the best cider selections in town, was there on Friday and they had bottles from westons and thatchers. All cheaper than a thatchers gold in the sun too, shame I don't like the pub itself!

Was in last night, sad to see some prices have gone up but the guest Black Horse Porter went down a treat

My issue is most pubs sell this pint for at least 50p less, if you can't offer something better than the competition then charging more than them is a risky strategy.

Transferring my comments from the other thread to here:

Have been looking for a venue for a friends and family gathering for a while and was considering The Sun as an option. Looked on their website and subsequently sent an e-mail to find out details and costs... no response....

Called them up to find out why no response... got some very unhelpful person who said hang on a minute, put the phone down and then literally came back over 15 minutes later with some poor response of "sorry, the person you sent it to was on holiday a week ago when you sent it....".... ok, so when they got back and saw my e-mail, they decided to further ignore a week old e-mail for another week....?!?!?

Right, so losing the will to live, we ask how much it will cost and the details... get told "we'll have to e-mail you details, whats the address..." hand over address to e-mail to, a month later and nothing.....

Some companies just don't need the custom obviously... especially when we were looking to bring 25 people for a buffet plus whatever drinks they would buy on the day... and its not as if we were wanting it at peak times when they would be busy....

Shocking service. Needless to say, my custom has gone elsewhere (No15 - excellent service from responding to mails, being flexible with the food and just generally being nice and helpful).

That's disappointing from the sun, I had my child's christening there and they were really helpful, I did it all face to face though, skipped the modern technology out.
Last time I was in the sun was the may bank holiday, couldn't believe how quick all the ales sold out and then they ran out the Monday wasn't it? Shame for those that couldn't get down till the Sunday/Monday as the choice wasn't there anymore but I understand the cost involved in over ordering but surly they could arrange to stagger some of the availability especially as its such a popular event.

Check your change in The Sun.... They tried handing over a 50 cent Euro coin in my change last night.

Eek nothing worse than getting funny money in your change lol, have you ever watched someone who's given a Scottish fiver some look sooo confused x

Well, I finally made it to the Sun for the first time since the Deak was there. It was OK - and I had some Steerage apparently.

don't mention the blinds
Whenever I visit I always bump into a guy propping up the bar named Andy, although he probably swears that he always bumps into Basil. Just wondering if anyone else knows this chap I'd guess he's late 50s /early 60s slim build and sports a meagre beard.......
