Whats the Rec chippy like these days? That used to have a really good rep at one point
Awesome actually, went there the other day as I fancied a change from weston road chippy (they are both equidistant from me, but one is down hill from my house and one is up hill, no prizes for guessing which one I normally visit!). I had battered sausage, chips and curry - top notch!

The Rec Chippy is the one for me - nice views if you have to wait. It seems to me that, if you are taking your purchase home, then an uphill chippy is to be preferred, as the homeward journey is so much more efficient...

Tried Westway chippy last night first time in there for about three years, generous portion of mixed kebab meat but of very dubious quality, that is if you can use the word quality in the same sentence as kebab meat. Customer in front of me had SF chicken which had been (over) cooked freshly while she waited looked awful, almost black and the coating falling off.

Best chippy I have been to was a fair hike from Stafford ... Akaroa in New Zealand. Everything cooked fresh and view from seating area was awesome!

Ah no I'm an 'eat your chips on the way home' knida guy. I haven't mastered the trick of eating piping hot chips on a bicycle yet though, if I have the bike then yes you're right, taking them home down hill is definitely more efficient.

Fair enough. I'm not keen on eating on the move with the proliferation of random 'street furniture' that we've had over recent years..

Its been taken over I know the one my granpys used to live on school street. That was the one my grandad used to use, my uncle preferred Middletons when he went to get tea.

20 years ago Carols indeed was the best, nowadays I think Middletons.

Somethings should never change.

It has been a couple of years since my last visit, maybe I need some flat pack furniture "mmmmm!"

When was yours???
A couple of years but I used to work in the area. Took some French people out for lunch. We ate fish and chips in the carpark of the pub opposite. Sadly no chippie in Stafford comes near to any of them.

The problem is that fish and chips are not like they used to be. Often you would queue up and wait for them to be cooked. They did not have them warming up. Also, what they cook them in has certainly changed, I guess its supposedly more healthy than dripping or lard.

For once in my life I have nothing, other than the words you are reading right now, to say.

Regency fish shop Cromer were excellent although the queue was out the door and down the street.
In Stafford its either Gnosall fish bar or Chris fish bar.

Britannia Fish bar. Always had my fish (other than mini fish) cooked to order!
