I've just been past The Tap and there's a big A board outside announcing the
re-opening on the 13th of February...opening times, from 10:00am to 11:00 pm

Are you there now!?
Can we have live drunken updates?
A blow by blow account of the proceedings!?

No.

Below is the first customer - not me...

Have they not redecorated? New carpets etc? was becoming a right dive before they closed, I looked through the window and looks like not much has changed.

I haven't been in for years - to me, it looks like it's had a good clean-up and repairs/replacements where necessary, but not necessarily a complete refurbishment.

Just rather too many screens for my liking.

Was alright, but we've ended up in the greyhound regardless. Nowt wrong with the place but a better atmosphere here, will try again next week.

Tried again, much happier with it! They are indeed tied to the brewery, but are trying to get a few different things in. Interestingly the heritage tasted better than I remember, must have had a few bad ones in the past. Still stuck to the Green Goblin though. The pub seems larger than it used to, certainly the back area. We didn't even realise it had windows, were the curtains always drawn before? Its certainly a lot cleaner than it used to be!

I'm presuming you didn't venture as far as the lavvies, the Gents is vile and it doesn't look like anything has been done to them...ever.
Was pleased to find the Thatcher's Green Goblin but, of course, that had to be set against the bloody awfulness and omnipresence of
Strongbow. A coat of magnolia makes the place appear to be bigger and brighter but only serves to highlight how grubby everything else is.

Having said all that, I wish them success when they have recovered from the move in and have used the Mr Sheen, Sugar soap and carpet cleaner.
