Mechanic needed.

I need help, my car - A 1.7 Ford Puma. S reg has decided to die on me. The battery is fine, lights etc all work. I had a new fuel pump and filter fitted by Secureacar on 29th Jan this year. It makes the sound as if it wants to turn over, but doesn't. Does anyone know a mechanic who will actually come out to where it's parked, have a look and listen, won't charge the earth, but might be able to help?
I'm not mechanically minded, I'm not practical at all. There is oil and water in the thing, ½ tank of petrol. I don't have a clue. All helpful suggestions are seriously appreciated. Thank you xx

Well, bloke from Secureacar said the starter motor was fine, when they did the fuel pump.
I thought it was that myself. but not being mechanically minded I honestly wouldn't know.

If you can establish where the starter motor is located, sometimes a gentle few taps with the wooden handle of a hammer can unjam it. Of course, you do so at your own risk.
As always, I highly recommend AA Silencers for most garage work as they've never failed me yet.

I would have contacted AA Silencers myself, but they let my son down in a really expensive way a while back, so I will pass on them. I'll have a google and see where abouts said starter motor is. If that doesn't work, I don't know what do. :(

Thank you both xxx

The expensive letdown was A1 on the Wolverhampton Road, who said they'd fixed my rear brakes but instead left them in even worse condition. AA were the ones who said they did my tracking three times in 6 months yet when I took it elsewhere, the new garage said the bolts were rusted solid and hadn't been touched in years. They also refused to touch my brake lines that were showing major signs of corrosion. I'm stood there going "take my money!" but they didn't want to know.

Was thinking more along the lines of the tyres that got worn out thru the tracking not being done x

I've asked the bloke at Jerningham St. garage for help. Apparently they are awful cars to work on, but, he's going to have a look. He doesn't think it's the starter motor, but whatever it is, is draining the battery when it starts. I never have any lucks with my cars, serves me right for buying ones I like the look of instead of what is decent to run etc etc...........

Depending on what Alternator / Charging system its got it could be a fault in that area some Fords have a charging system controlled from the engine ECU, or black box / computer

Never turn the lights on when starting the car, so wouldn't know. And the cab light int switched to on either.
I do appreciate everyone's input here. I must come across as a complete imbecile, I'm just not mechanically minded in anyway. xx

Right, I really really appreciate everyone taking the time to answer my questions.
Turns out, it's the brand new fuel pump that was fitted back on January 20th this year,it's died.
I've rung Secureacar and they're going to come and get the car on Thursday.
I was all ready for ringing Watsons Scrappy to tow it away.
Once again many thanks to everyone who commented. I owe you all xxxx

I use County Tyres on Astonfields for repairs as well as tyres. Cannot recommend them enough.

I've also used AA Silencers but you have obviously had issues.
