just out of curiousity @wmrcomputers what happened to the wedding business that you were setting up....are you still going ahead with that?
I'll say that it's on hold for now. It's still something I'd love to do, but due to family matters it wouldn't be the best thing to go into right now and as a priority I'd much prefer to set something up for Mrs WMR to have a bit of involvement in (daytimes etc.). The wedding business would be mostly evenings so it might have to wait until the youngest are a couple of years older unfortunately. But then it may never happen at all if I qualify as a trained drone pilot next year and set up doing commercial aerial photography. Sooooooo many things I want to do.

You may all think "Why?"... but I'm not a fool. The computer business is getting quieter all of the time and in another 12 to 18 months you'll pick up a brand new full sized laptop for £99 - it's slowly becoming yet another 'bin it and buy new' industry in my opinion. I'm trying to plan ahead enough to have another trade to fall back on rather than finding myself mid 40's and jobless. I'd rather have two or three part time businesses than just the one (unfortunately not fail proof) full time one.

The world changes, and it changes at an ever increasing speed.

Stafford is a place at a disadvantage to a town like Burton on Trent or even Cannock because it has for so long relied upon the public sector for employment.
The County Council, Hospitals, Police HQ, Fire HQ, Prison ( was public ) Ambulance HQ ( as was ) Borough Council, etc etc

Burton may not be very pretty but it does prosper because of the industry that is there, it builds railways carriages for instance, its not just about beer

We have been told by Osborne and Cameron that the public sector cuts will be even deeper than those that have already been implemented so the town does not have a rosy employment future unless new 'industry' sees it as an attractive place to locate to

So far this is not happening

Building houses does not equate to local jobs

The service sector needs those 'big' jobs to survive

There was a feature on the One Show the other night on Social Bite. A sandwich shop and cafe in Scotland that donated all profits to good causes and hired previously homeless people as staff to help them get back on their feet etc.

I thought it was a fantastic idea and a great way for people to donate to charity while receiving services they want/need

If you aren't interested in turning a profit with your new shop, how about something like this?

I said we'd be happy just to break even, but that doesn't mean we wouldn't be even happier to turn a profit ;)
A good thing they've done though, I hadn't heard about that before.

I enjoy my food, I admit to being a large bird. I start a diet and give up after a couple of days. I know a little bit of what you fancy does you good. But I fancy family sized bars of Galaxy, oatcakes dripping in butter n cheese, bacon and egg buttys. Life is too short to worry about the last calorie that went down my bone shute!

I used to be sent to the corner shop by my grans to buy 'Hot oatcakes' (Or 'O' cakes as I was told to get, but thought she was saying 'old' cakes ) straight off the griddle thingy. The one's in the packets aren't a touch on them , but I still buy a packet or two each week and have them buttered and filled with bacon and cheese . As Glam says... nom nom nom nom nom

Experimented with something new in them today, creamed mushrooms ...... went well with a plate of bacon and beans (and the last tiny bit with the egg I forgot to put on the plate  )

Oatcakes it is then for your shop @wmrcomputers

I'm a clayhead too and was brought up on them but I like them simple

Grill one side, turn over , grate cheese, roll up.

Thats it....no butter needed.

We have them about once a month.

Other half is diabetic and so we try and do the low GI thing .
