Just installing now and had a customer phone me asking how to get rid of it and go back to Windows 7

Is 10 a better option than 8 for a person who detests 8 and preferred 7?

I hope so as my Mum has asked about it and whether she should upgrade from the dreaded 8.

Spent a couple of hours yesterday downloading it, then running through all the preperation, watching the progress %'age sneak up. All looked hunky dory so I decided to leave it to it...... came back in to a screen saying "restoring your previous version of windows".

It'd obviously hit a glitch somewhere along the line, but I didn't catch the error message... now I've got to start all over :(

If you have an AMD GPU try uninstalling the drivers first, also it is a good idea to unplug everything exept your Keyboard and Mouse time you are installing.

It took me a few to get the start menu tiles etc organised the way I like it, but now I'm there I'm quite happy with it. I'm still not sure I'd call it "a cure" for those who hated Windows 8 though. If you were a real Windows 7 fan, then Windows 8 with Classic Start installed is possibly still easier to work with than Windows 10. It's a case of taking the plunge really, and if you don't like it you can always roll it back to the previous system

I had a PC with Windows 7 and have a Surface Pro 3 with 8.1. I updated the surface and all was well, I quite like it so I also updated my PC. I think that I like it in the whole although I had to turn off the "PC Sync" setting. It synced my desktop wallpaper on the two machines. However, I use one for work and one at home so I tend to have different setups on them.

I think to really help secure your pc, you need to turn off Cortana it seems to need access to nearly every privacy setting, this causes a bit of a dilemma because i think Cortana is one of the best features.

I upgraded from 8.1 to 10. First impressions it is an improvement but not massively different in the interface. Still prefer 7 I thinks..

the additional virtual desktops come very in handy for me. If I'm working on several projects at once it helps me to keep all open windows for each project seperate from other projects. One of the biggest improvements for me personally although I realise a lot of PC users would never use this feature.

Is this feature really just to hide naughty films quickly? :master:

After suffering the instability of 8, then 8.1 and now 10 am going back to Windows 7. 10 has got to be the most untried OS ever released. So many glitch's and fails it is ridiculous!

Bill Gates should hang his head in shame. No wonder it has become a 'free' upgrade, you couldn't give the bloody thing away.....
