I went last year was quite good, the dessert spoilt it for me though, the starter and main were beautifully presented, when it came to the dessert, this was dished up by the young waitress, apple crumble slopped in a bowl overflowing with bright yellow custard. It just didn't finish the evening off regarding the presentation, it didn't look appertising compared to the rest of the meal.

We went here for my mums birthday two Saturdays ago when myself and my wife arrived we were greeted and seated and a drink order taken. 20 mins later the drinks arrived and this is how it stayed with drinks we all found ourselves ordering two drinks to last the meal. As I said we sat and 7.30 food order then taken about 8 but the first starter didn't arrive til 9.05. When the starter did arrive out of 12 of us sat down 5 were stone cold. At this point we were asked if we had any bread brought to us which we hadnt. Then the mains started 7 people ordered steak everyone was cooked wrong my mum who also ordered her steak well done hers was brought out 20mins after everyone else's very rare so was sent back and she didn't eat. Bring out the birthday cake then for dessert how can they mess this up? Well they brought the cake and a knife but no napkins or plates so ended up eating off of our placemats. Upon my dad going down to complain a drunk customer sat near the waiter station kicked off getting aggressive this all came to head with £13 being taken off our bill of £493.00. Needless to say we won't be eating here again. This is a shame as we have eaten here many times and enjoyed it.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience IPBWS..... was the guy kicking off with your dad or with the waiters? Any idea what his issue was? All very strange.

He was having at my dad while he was complaining he said oh just f!!k off my dad said if you don't mind just let me do what I'm doing this guy then got up out his seat and squared up to dad. All a bit strange really I agree. It was just the bad ending to a bad night. Myself and my wife ended up going and getting a take away after we left.

I'm sure in a restaurant you only have to pay what you think it is worth, even a nominal offer of £5 per head if you feel it has been that bad. check your rights as this used to be the case. the things you cant do are not pay for drinks (unless also wrong/vile) and not walk out without paying at all. I find reducing your bill by 1/4 of a percent really bad, taking into account the probelms you had - I hope they didnt add service on.

Crikey! I think after all of that, the drunk man squaring up would have been the last straw and someone would have got falcon punched!

I have eaten twice at No5 The last time was around 18months ago. We had a great meal on both visits. The food was lovely and the service was good. Is it still run by the same chap? I think his name is Simon.

Good food, bad food, as long as it doesn't contain meat or hospitalise me I'll happily go back to a place because eating out, for me, is 50% the food and 50% the pleasure of eating with friends. It seems a sad coincidence that the ONLY place I will never, ever, visit again, is this one. We'd eaten there a few times and the food was OK. Nowhere near as good as The Fox but convenient for friends who lived within walking distance. The final time we went another diner had a go at us and my friend left in tears. So that was it. Never again.
I've eaten unidentified food in Kathmandu while one of the waiters chased a rat between the tables with a stick. And I went back there. Twice.

We went about 6 months ago, one of the worst experiences from a customer service point of view ive ever had in any restaurant I have been in. Food was great as was the young waitress but the woman who I presume was the owner was rude, aggressive and from what we could tell (from the amount of wine being consumed) a little worse for wear.

Great food but no way to run a business and their were numerous complaints through the night.

No 5 tonight, fantastic meal, very generous portions, all freshly cooked, if you've not been you're missing out on a real treat!

Think I'd like to try this place but not sure where it is. On street view which isn't very good on my ipad the only bit I can see is right outside the prison. Is it by the hairdressers Just for Gents maybe?
