What about foxes?

I used to keep chickens a while back and a fox killed the lot and didn't even eat them.

It's their nature to hunt and kill I'm afraid.

A bell in your cats collar helps reduce the murder. Obviously chicks in a nest are still gonna get it but animals able to run will do.

I once watched a magpie attack another birds nest and eat the chicks while the helpless parents watched. I did try to stop the bird but the nest was too high up in the tree for me help them.

Got a phone call from one of my tenants about a blow light bulb.... I'm thinking what the heck, this guy is 30 and a teacher in addition two of the tenants in the same property are building surveyors, surely between them they can work out how to change a light bulb.

Turns out the fitting is a BC3 and requires a 3 pronged bulb which aren't so readily available. A ridiculous law was passed that a certain amount of light fittings are meant to use this format to stop people using incandescent bulbs. The thing is it seems you can only really get Compact Florescent bulbs with this fixture , not many places sell them and those that do charge a silly amount for an inferior bulb. I can't believe this lack of choice and the fact you are forced to use an inferior bulb vs LED. Looks like I will have to rewire a few pendants to get rid of this silly fixture.

I've spent most of the day listening to two Plasterers chat.

They're not in my house.

They're next door.

They don't seem to realise I can hear every word they say. ;)

I've enjoyed their company.

ahh , you mean right next door to you , not across from you.
ive had a plasterer in this morning after removing the bathroom wallpaper ( and half the wall came away with it  )

bloody good hearing though i must say :P

Our walls are paper thin :( , dunno what there doing but SARH didn't do it. :strange: Do SARH tennents have to arrange & pay for any work themselves now?

We upset them the other day by asking them to stop hammering & drilling at 9.30pm as the child was in bed - they were really arsey - I wouldn't of minded but they had been in all day & didn't start with the hammering & drilling till the evening. Oh well, another lot I've annoyed!

no , SARH do cover most work ( but not entirely everything )
i had already paid privately for my own bathroom suite so now that is my own responsibilty , SARH would have fitted one but i would have had to wait another 5 years and the one i had when i moved in was damaged beyond belief.
when i was working on the house when we moved here 3 years ago , we stopped any noisy work by 6pm as thats when our next door neighbours would return home.
im sure they are SARH tennants next to you as the previous tennants had a mutual exchange with them and moved to doxey... under the mutual exchange rules , SARH wont do any repairs for around 6 months unless its an emergency call out.
so it looks like they are panelling and plastering themselves.

Lol , if you think thats bad i was told i needed to wait 17 years for the kitchen to be done , needless to say ill be replacing that myself too .
I dont have to replace myself though , i just prefer to do it rather than wait for it to fall to pieces.
The only downside to doing this is under the draconian conservative government measures in place , once my daughters move out eventually, we can be forced out of the property and moved to a smaller dwelling due to under occupancy.
