Redspot are back to promote a couple of spring gigs starting with The Nightingales ‘Mind over Matter’UK Tour which kicks off in Stafford on May 14th. Venue is the Grapes on Bridge Street, Stafford, ST16 2HL

Support for the show is the one and only Ted Chippington who some of you may remember from the early eighties around stafford. Kicking off the night will be Birmingham’s ‘The Courtesy Group’ who have played the town a few times over the past 10 years including the market square music festival.

Tickets are £6 available from the venue or online with The Ticketsellers, alternatively call 07745662657. Doors open at 8.30pm.

Utterly marvellous - I will be there.

I saw the Nightingales many times in the Star at Shifnal.

Ted Chippington is just superb.

Well, Ted was Ted, the Nightingales were just as they were thirty years ago, but the revelation of the night was the Courtesy Group - the best new thing that I've seen this century.

The video doesn't really do them justice - it's like Joy Division, John Cooper Clarke and PiL rolled into one..

I missed this, as a surly youth I liked Robert Llloyd and The New Four Seasons, from them I discovered the nightingales.

It was a surprisingly good do.

The Nightingales played the Star at Shifnal quite a few times in the '80s and we would often venture out there to see them.

They put some great bands on there.
I wonder if anybody has a list? I believe that I saw Classix Nouveau or Caberet Voltaire there, but I'm not sure which.

There was a local band called Fear of Flying who seemed very good but I never heard of them again.
