Believe there was will be such a waste what is needed is a large highstreet retailer to fill it. people can then walk through it during opening hours like at present that retailer will benefit from passing trade. A win win.
I haven't been in M&S this century.
Wasn't there talk once of knocking it down, to create a pedestrian zone to link Morrisons into the town?
If we joined all the plans together, we might just be able to do it.Yeah mean like Poundworld? If they take it over I can't imagine they won't keep both entrances.
Yes there was - I remember that...
Same time there were plans to put a roof over Princes street and turn it into a boutique shopping village
That end if town is going to have to be renamed the Bloxwich Quarter if all there's going to be is tat.
I think you'll find me somewhere in the middle....We're gonna have 2 town centres aren't we . The northern one that will be full of charity and pound shops centred on Sports Direct and it's environs, matching the poor and working class demographic of the north end of Stafford, and the south town centre, focused on the new shopping centre which reflects the affluent demographics of the south of town. I'd like this north town to gain independance from the south myself. @littleme might join my new pound oriented fiefdom?

Affluent south, Highfield's?
Wild West, maybe.Isn't highfields West?
It's fine to disagree, but how about not being rude. What a load of tosh.
I hardly think that the new town centre matches any affluent demographic. Those who are truly affluent hardly aspire to Primark and will still hot foot it to Birmingham, Cheshire or London.
The new shopping centre will however still appeal to a broad range regardless of social class. But so will the other end of town.
Anyone who frequents pound shops/lidl/aldi etc will see that they are full of middle class types.
Even people with money like a bargain.
And people without money somehow sometimes get the money together for designer gear.
It is just ridiculous to generalise.
