i would love to try this one where about do you start it then

As @Gramaisc says, turn left off the bad bend at the start of the Sandon Road, we parked just along the lane by the Army recruiting entrance. Walk a couple of miles along the bridle path, just keep going completely straight and eventually you get to Marston Lane, take a left at the lane, there are a few buildings where Zion Chapel is on the left, keep going along the lane, take the first left and walk the lane that is also No 5 cycleway, and on the bad right hand bend go straight ahead on to the bridleway that returns you eventually to your start place. As I said in a previous post, the 2 1/2 mile to 1 inch map is perfect and it's almost impossible get lost. Let us know how you go if you do it.

Here's what the bridleway looks like:

thank you i will i'm a bit lost as to where about you mean to start is it before the Hopton Garage bend

As you turn on to the Sandon Road from Beaconside, take the very first left turn, before the Hopton garage yes. It's as the road turns sharply right, you need to go straight there. You should find yourself at the entrance to the Army recruitment. The start of the bridleway is tarmacced but soon turns in to fields. Like I said, my advice would be to get the relevant OS map!

Sent them over a week ago, did you get them?
Yes, sorry - I thought I'd already posted to say thanks but I'm assuming Brit had gone suspiciously quite and needed investigating or something.

Thank you very much =D

Fabulous walk from Cheswardine north for 3 miles through lots of miscanthus (?), as far as the Shropshire Union canal, and then 3 miles back to the village today. Nice 6 miles, but my god it was cold!!! Will be really scenic in the summer though!

7 1/2 miles round the Hanchurch Hills blue walk today under blue skies and with lovely birdsong. We managed to walk the route in reverse, somehow missing a step at the start of the instructions, but a fabulous walk and the Fitzherbert Arms at Swynnerton made a lovely pit stop half way round. Had a great pot of tea with enough for 2 of us for £2.25. Weirdly the little store opposite sold Lidl biscuits!!! :)

Completed this weekends lovely walk around Bishops Wood near Chipnall (near Cheswardine) in Shropshire Took about 2 1/2 hours and was very enjoyable albeit muddy. It was like Cannock Chase without the people/bikes/craziness. Very enjoyable. Not a walk from a leaflet, just an area our friends live very close to. All the dogs enjoyed themselves as well, Collie and a Ridgeback and our yampy 'lurcher' (I use the word loosely as no-one knows his breeding)! Thoroughly recommended if anyone is out that way and NO STILES! Happy days!

Now for an evening lazing on the sofa eating chocolate :D
I'm a newbie on here and new to staffs. Is bishops wood safe for dogs to be off lead? Thanks

Safe in what regard? My dog chases deer, pheasants and rabbits so not safe for him!! But for your average dog it's perfect. There are horses and riders though!

Well we're still doing our regular walks and discovering the local countryside. I invested in a little book of walks in Staffordshire which has some delights but also showcases the 'meh'ness of much local countryside, just boggy pasture! Thankfully we are saved by being local to the lovely Staffordshire moorlands! Worth a few quid this little book if you are a walker locally though and we've seen others using it when on the Wombourne walks!

Hence my description local walks of being boggy pasture...

No one ever caught or passed on covid walking with the person they live with in the empty countryside but to clarify for the pedants, we started the walks last winter! I just chose to post now as I finally have time
