Why do you feel the need to point out that it was a BMW driver? Your jealousy is showing through. He was presumably flashing his lights to point out to you how stupid you were, overtaking in poor conditions and causing a danger to him, to other more sensible road users, and to yourself.

PMSL also.
And thought "Must be a bmw driver"

I'm feeling a bit lethargic today. Anyone know a great motivator that can get me going?
Actually yes. I'm about to set off back to Stafford early so I can have a bite to eat and a few pints at the Bird in Hand.

Bird in Hand, what greater motivator can there be?

Let me try, my wife has just asked me to put some food out for the birds so they dont starve, due to the snow and that. I am effectively a saint to birds, try that?

Most of us are aware of how awful BMWs (the rear wheel drive versions) are in this weather. I could afford to buy a BMW if I chose to, but whenever there was ice around I know it wouldn't handle it, so I get a car that can cope, that happens to cost less. Win win.
Any rear wheel drive car will struggle in icy conditions if the driver does not have the skills to control the car. My X6M is 4 wheel drive so has no problem whatsoever.

So how is this contributing to the discussion then?

By the way it is relevant to mention the make of car particularly when the majority of BMW drivers are arrogant idiots who think they own the road.

Followed at a very safe distance a very slow moving BMW 5 Series between Newport and Shrewsbury. We got to a straight, so I overtook him as the road had been gritted and near-normal speeds were possible. For some reason that made him speed up, flash his lights, keep his horn pressed down and gesture frantically at me for nearly a mile before he disappeared into the distance.

I had similar on the first night of snow. Some 4x4 going slowly, which was just a minor pain. Them randomly braking mid corner, etc, was far more of a pain. I finally overtook them on a long straight (didn't go over 30 while overtaking them) and they then speeded up and kept their headlights on high beam

I always wondered what that M stood for. Now I know Hopes Dad drives one, I think I've got it.

It is interesting that on many forums where bad driving is discussed BMWs feature very prominently. Given the number around they seem to feature disproportionately highly

Can few years ago I helped a driver in a hotel car park next to my office where the show had been bad....

They drive a Smart car, which was rear wheel drive and automatic... They had driven into a parking space and had no idea to get out as they had zero traction and zero throttle control....
