I'm afraid the standard of bar staff and door staff at the swan has fallen dramatically over the last 12 months in my opinion and the quality of beer is inconsistent.

Improvements need to be made before I return here.

That are alot of alternative places in Stafford now which offer better customer service and beer.

I find there is always a step-change in establishments that need to employ door staff that coincides with the time said staff begin their duties. Hence why I never visit them when it's door-man time.

That may also coincide with a change in the type of customer that frequents them and the effect that has on some staff.

Still it is a very valid point, worth making @markpa12003 as it shouldn't happen.

Thanks proactive but our licence does require us to have door staff on, strange as it may appear this isn’t an equitable system whereby all establishments have the same condition, however I’m unsure if I can agree that our hotel, restaurant or bar customers suddenly change at the given hour that our door staff can duty.

I don't know Chris, I don't go to the Swan at bouncer time. I was talking more of my experience in general.

We enjoyed another great meal in The Swan last saturday night. Must say I made a good choice of Root veg soup, The Minted lamb pie and Homemade rhubarb, blackberry and cider crumble with crème Anglaise. Hubby could have done with a bit more on his plate with his Roast rump of lamb meal , but he said the lamb tasted absolutely superb.

The member of doorstaff on duty at the front entrance as we left was most polite and it was nice having the doors opened for us , thanked for our custom and wished a good evening.

I'm not a fan of the two new door staff, very unpleasant in my experiece. However, the previous door staff have always been very good.

the only issues I see between door staff and clientele tend to he when there are issues from the latter who have normally consumed alcohol.

Not a reference in any supposed issues here but observations over 4 decades of attending establishments up and down the country that have them.

I'd agree with that, with the exception of a particularly vicious bouncer at The Place, back in the late 80s. He just looked for trouble and an excuse to inflict harm, from my observation.

I don't agree that you will get better customer service elsewhere. I go to the Swan two or three times a week and wouldn't keep returning if I wasn't happy with the service. Granted it's more day time but been in the evening many a time and never had a problem with door staff or service. Can't really comment on the beer as I don't drink it but the gin selection and cocktails are excellent.

You may not agree with my post but it's based on my recent experience. I would now rather drink my beer at the BiH, floodgate, No.7 etc.

I will return to the swan again. I don't dislike the place, I'm actually very fond it. However, I prefer the beer and welcome I get elsewhere.
