Might make some today. Tbh, I made some originally for a friend recovering from surgery who is vegan. Said to my better half when making it that we would see what they taste like before deciding whether to admit making them. They tasted better than expected.

Recipe
9oz each of currents, raisins and sultanas.
6oz of cherries.
6oz of sugar.
1 pint soya milk
200ml vegetable oil.
1lb of wholemeal self raising flour.
2oz ground almonds
1 tblsp black treacle.
Brandy.
Fair bit of mixed spice and cinnamon.

This is enough for 3 x 6" diameter cakes. Cook on gas mark 2 for about 2.5 hours.

Sounds good, any pics?
How much brandy did you glug in for a 3X6 cake?

Did you just block someone because they didn't try hard enough to be vegan?

Do vegans keep pets, and are they vegan too?
Ha, no not at all tek, i'm not that bad.
DM'd ya.

I have a cat.
You can get vegan pet food for cats and dogs.

None handy at the moment I am afraid.

Brandy to taste. No specific amount. If I add too much then I just add a bit more flour to the mix to thicken it up again.

Tbh, I still prefer the normal rich fruit cakes I make but this recipe is a lot closer than I expected.

I'm surprised it's a cat TBH, is it an indoor one? Many pet cats are murderous gits!

Love this and it's so flippin true it hurts.

I've had the little adorable fluff balls throughout my entire life and the one i've now has just a few years left in her, but once she's done, it's no more pets for me.

The destruction is too much, but who's to blame for it, really?

When the ginger bloke on Countryfile actually shows off injecting antibiotics into his livestock you know it really is time to avoid meat

And when your milk has a fifty fifty chance of coming from Eastern Europe and the fish source ( mustard? ) is mysterious you could consider living off local village eggs, and chips

Seasonal fruit available

In season

Yeah probably, depends what they're saying today.

Side note; our soon-to-be great leader has been vegetarian for decades now. Vegan no, but doubt he's far off.

So we should expect a stream of anti-veganism slurs, shortly followed by anti-carnivore slurs, before being told he ate a baby?

That should do it.

The more we're told not to like this guy, the more votes he'll get.
I hope!

Did you take any last night? Sorry I wasn't there having said that I would be. My loss if you did another cake - all the more for the rest of you.

They're at it again, defacing some graffiti to make him more like another famous vegetarian.

No one is to blame for it, unless you are now going to be waging war against non-vegan cats?.....It's the natural order of things for carnivorous animals to hunt.

I never started waging war on vegan cats, let alone waging war against non vegan cats.

your statement on "who is to blame?" for an act that is natural in the Animal kingdom just did not make sense at all. Was there someone / thing that you felt was to be at blame for such a natural act to be undertaken? Perhaps your cat was feeling generous and wanted to bring you a gift as a way of showing affection towards you?.....persecuting a species for a natural act that did not meat (see what I did there?) your ideals......just baffles me.....
