Examples of poor driving you have witnessed!

A silvery estate? I've just been subject to some 'assertive driving' from whoever was driving it today.
I was soaked by a vehicle of the same description last Thursday,( just past the convent by the Citroen showroom) as they drove through a puddle which all the cars Infront of them managed to avoid!

Not exclusive to Stafford, or the M6 nearby, but WTF is the matter with drivers on the motorway who sit in the middle lane thereby turning a 3 lane road in to a dual carriageway. Absolutely does my head in! Coming back from Liverpool yesterday and there was a stream of these morons in the middle lane while the left hand lane was completely empty, not even something 2 miles in the distance that they might have to overtake. For the life of me I can't fathom why anyone would deliberately sit in the middle lane when the left hand lane is empty? It would be nice if, instead of harrassing speeding drivers the cops would actually enforce the law regarding this as it makes the motor way very dangerous. Happily sitting on the inside lane doing 73, have to either undertake, or overtake from lane 1 to 3 and back to lane 1 again just to get passed these utter dweeps. Does my head in!

Totally agree with you here.
I was once pulled over by our friendly plod between J15 and 16 for undertaking and allegedly speeding.

I got away with it by stating that as the inside lane was going faster than the idiots hogging the middle lane I was allowed to do it and quoted the Highway Code clause explaining passing on the left to the officer. I also showed him my cruise control was set to exactly 70mph and it was the same idiots in the middle lane that were not maintaining the national speed limit making me look like I was going faster than the speed limit.

I also told them they should be prosecuting middle lane hoggers for driving with undue care and attention because they were causing law abiding drivers to swerve around them.

The copper trying to accuse me had to be led away by his colleague who actually completely agreed with me. His mate was nearly in tears and swore he would keep an eye out for my car and do me one day. I'm still waiting and the middle lane hoggers still hog the road.

Same applies to those people that won't use lane 1 of the 4 lane smart motorway stretches thus turning it back into a 3lane motorway, just like it was before we had to endure a couple of years of disruption & millions of poundsworth of investment the improve traffic flow.

Yep, the centre lane owners club are a complete pain.

Some try to use the excuse of the condition of the left hand lane from lorries, and some that they think they would be changing lane all the time. Can' say I think either are valid.

Doesn't help that some UK motorways seem to encourage it. Extra lanes appear on the left. And sometimes you get signs telling people to avoid changing lanes.

I love driving in the centre lane. It really pisses off loads of people.

In the first three years of it being a specific offence there were 135 fines issued - less than one a week.

So is it illegal to drive in the centre lane then?

Are there any three-lane roads left?

Driving in the centre lane of those could be quite entertaining.

Edit - I see that the Highway Code still has Rule 135, referring to the "lane of death", but I haven't seen one for about thirty years.

I would be very reluctant to try to use one in the prescribed manner with any 'modern' drivers about...
