The oriental figures (4) used to be atop 'Motor Cycle Mecca' in Market Street from when it was originally a tea warehouse (where the now closed '99p' store is)

As long as the roof is fit for purpose, like the Old Post House it'll stay standing for another few years yet.

If anyone knows of any bank willing to offer unsecured loans to cover this sort of build do speak up.

How do I edit this?
- "which have puzzled Staffordians: or generations (sic)"

They're not that puzzling - unless you think that Yorkshire Tea comes from plantations in Barnsley.

I remember the manager of a coffee house I once worked in explaining emphatically in the face of a customer's disbelief that Italian Roast was definitely grown in Italy...

disclaimer before anyone jumps to conclusions: it wasn't in Stafford, it's almost certainly no one you know

There is still work going on in the old library - I could hear an aluminium step-ladder being manoeuvred as I went past today.

So, some time ago I saw an email and that stated a number of things that were in the pipeline.
Restaurant in Mill Street - Done
Plans for conversion of the end of Gaolgate Street - Plans recently announced for hotel
Library conversion - In progress
Re-opening of Post House with use as bar, restaurant and live music - Still no word
Old Tavern - Plans for an eatery
Burtons on Gaolgate St - New pub, well underway on construction

I was walking past the old Katharine House shop in Stafford St today and there seemed to be work going on. The old Moben shop is now also occupied with a beauty treatment sorta thing.

Some of it has happened or is in the pipeline, so I hope it carries on. I do hope the new library eating establishment is something a bit different rather than just more competition for existing spots.
