Well, Christmas is over for 2018, isn't it?? No point dragging it out over a prolonged number of days, especially if it was Boxing Day, right? I mean, the council has got to save some money somewhere, now that half the shops have closed in Stafford and there's less rent coming in, so turning off the lights until next year is the presumed sensible way to go.

The town Christmas lights were off yesterday and again today. What gives?
The market square and tree in total darkness of the festive period. A fault?
Gives a bad impression of Stafford. Especially to those travelling in for the panto etc.
Perhaps the lights are powered by an extension lead from the Bank House Wine Bar and only operate when they feel like it.
The lights should be linked to a coin operation. If the public want the lights on, then they will need to stand there and feed the meter. Problem solved.
Sorry the reality is that most people probably don't share your concern... That said the link to the Bank House Restaurant is a credible one....As funny as that is. In reality it further backs up Stafford current and it’s ever increasing “ghost town” status. In darkness. Boxing Day. On festive evenings out.
They are not helping themselves.
You are wrong. Christmas is not Christmas Day alone. Twelve days of Xmas??? Is there not?
...I am more inclined to think they have a fault. Not a conscious decision to switch them off. Or hope.
Merry Christmas.
Lights now back on thanks to my 50p in the meter. Don't all thank me at once.
I was only making an assumption. Most people agree that the tree has had its day for this year so why waste money lighting it or the street up? I know people who take their trees and lights down on Boxing Day as they want a fresh start for the New Year. Staffordshire Council may feel the same way.
Fcuk knows but no bugger cares anymore. So is the Bank House Wine Bar open as well?
