Stafford Traffic.

Ok I think I get it. I thought Alliance Street was jokingly referred to as a kind of Wild Card that if you were stuck in traffic, driving down Alliance Street would magically allow you to avoid a jam, but in fact it’s a piss take on a territorially minded Alliance Street resident.

I drove down Alliance St last week.

Not because it was a short cut, on the contrary, I had to actually go out of my way to get to it.

A) I wanted to see what the fuss was about.
B) I didn’t want to be left out, as in the only person from Stafford Forum who hasn’t driven down it.

I have noticed however that the well known forumite who lives in Alliance St hasn’t posted in a while.

I’m wondering if she’s run off with the Tory Councillor that she seemed to take a liking to.

As far as I am aware I have never driven, ridden or walked down Alliance Street. I can't say I have any particular desire to do so.

I was just about to say the same but ,googling where it is ,seems I may have driven down it at some time in the past as my brother and ex-sister in law lived in Pitt Street many moons ago.

Holmcroft Road traffic lights don't seem to be able to cope with the level of traffic currently. Again tonight, they were staying on green for 6 seconds for the A34 allowing about 3 cars through at a time. No wonder the queue is backing up to Tenpin. They usually stay green for a good 22 seconds.

There must be a fault with them?

It's standard practice to leave nearby lights operating on inappropriate sequences.

Possibly not there is a lot more traffic using holmcroft Road at present and as holmcroft Road operates on a traffic sensor not timed phase. They are probably working as designed

The M6 is 50 years old

In Stafford
Older than that surely?
I can remember seeing a sign on the southbound visible from Burton Manor footbridge warning “End of motorway 1/2 mile ahead” (that would have been junction 13). I dont know how far north it went but 13 to 14 was open then, must have been around 1963/4 ish.

4 August 1962 I believe, although the official opening ceremony took place on 2 August.

Aye but, if you read it all the bit around Stafford was open when I saw the signs (& traffic) from the bridge around 1963/4 (55/6 years ago).
Junction 13 to Junction 14 is the bit around (in?) Stafford. :D:D
