The Stranglers caused controversy in the early 80's when their stage routine included a female stripper who took off her top! I was at Uni' at the time and one of my friends, a woman on the course, a very big stranglers fan, and ardent feminist struggled to justify the performance! .
October 18th, 1986.up till zz top (late 80's?). .
... that could do with some punctuation......BIG BLOCK 'O' TEXT...
... acoustics and the place were a big let down, bingley either didn't care or didn't know what they actually had going.

It is still a cow shed, so it still has that going for it...
*County Show this week*
... if you are more into watching cows in a shed than you are watching some of the best bands in the world.
Which of course many people aren't.
I'll try - sorry dude. Uncalled for.don't be a dick...
it was the lot off. maybe the first sighting of the lady part for me I still go to stranglers gigs, they play it without the ladies now
I used to get backstage passes for every band there from about 77? Eagles, up till zz top (late 80's?). I used to get the passes autographed and flog em at school when there, give em away to mates after I'd left. if only I'd kept em, they'd be worth a fortune, Freddie Mercury, Bowie, thin lizzys Phil Lynott, Bob Marley and many more I used to get friends into the gigs too. got chucked out at zz top cos I took a camera in and got between the crowd and stage bit without 'accreditation' had the film ripped out the camera. got back into the gig but kept out the way.
it was a great venue to have on your doorstep, coaches came from all over as it was the big central venue. acoustics and the place were a big let down, bingley either didn't care or didn't know what they actually had going.
the nec got built, everyone went there instead, bigger, better?, purpose built, and I had to start paying if I wanted to go.
despite all the free mega gigs at bingley hall I went to, and it was a hell of a lot, my heart and sounds were usually at vicki hall hanley.
