Gatehouse Theatre.

I thought that it might be a good idea to start a thread specifically for our local theatre.
I recently took a group of friends there who had previously never been because they generally prefer to go to bigger venues.
They were amazed that our local theatre had really good stuff going on, they’d never even taken the time to look.
So with that in mind, I’d really like to promote this lovely venue.

I do volunteer for the Gatehouse, ( front of house) but I don’t get paid, I’m just posting for the love of it.

First recommended show.

Ben Elton work in progress. Monday 23rd September.
He’s doing a big tour ( about 50 venues ) in 2019 starting in Stafford with this work in progress.

The tour is practically sold out Nationwide but for some reason, Stafford isn’t showing on the tour dates (even though Wrexham Work in Progress is).
So at the moment there are about 60 seats left for this but will obviously sell out soon.

It has some significant history too

Gene Vincent
Hurricane Higgins
Judas Priest
Jimmy Savile ( wrestled )
The Police
Thin Lizzy x2

all played there under its original name the Borough Hall

The library, council offices and the Clem Wragge Museum took up the ground floor

Clem was an early weatherman and used to live with his Aunt Fanny ( pictured )

There's a couple of things I've got tickets for quite soon.

NT Fleabag Live - https://staffordgatehousetheatre.co.uk/events/nt-live-fleabag/

The National Theatre Live nights are brilliant.
As most of you are probably aware, Fleabag tickets in London were sold out and tickets changing hands for an eye watering amount of money.
Brilliant then that you can see it in Stafford for next to nothing. Wednesday 2nd October.

Another comedy National Theatre Live Show is “One Man Two Guvnors” with James Corden.
Whether you are a fan of his or not, the show is very funny.
Monday 30th Sept.

Just a heads up on the Ben Elton tickets.

This is his first UK tour for 15 years, he’s doing about 70 dates in all.
Most of these dates have now pretty much sold out in every venue, and at a much higher cost than the Gatehouse work in progress gig next Monday.
Currently about 40 seats left at Stafford because for some reason it’s not been advertised fully.

Tickets for The Vicar of Dibley are selling very well.
It’s on this week from tomorrow until Saturday.
Comedy Gold.

Henning Wehn the German comedian is always a sell out. He’s not on until next April 2nd 2020 but if you want to go to this then you’ll need to book soon. Some seats left at the rear but selling very quickly.

Tickets now on sale for next years outdoor Shakespeare at Stafford Castle.
Romeo and Juliet. Book now for the best seats.

Anyone else find the Gatehouse site to be abysmally slow at times...? Can’t imagine it helps with ticket sales.
