I went with the intention of some 'winter food' today, but discovered another new Specials item, and so felt obliged too investigate.

Chicken, sautéed in lemon and butter - rather more substantial than it might look - and rather nice.

Two new Specials items today.

I elected to try the Venison, Bacon and Mushroom Pie - ideal winter food.

The other new item was described as ¼ Roast Chicken - but, preferring my chicken to be fully roasted, I decided to leave that for another day...

Is there any food to go with that gravy lol.

Food terrible there, worst in the county

I don't rate it either (unless it's changed recently) and I know the guys that run the place.

I feel they are totally complacent with the people who go there every week, and haven't had to step it up for years.

I went with the intention of it being a Pie Day, or possibly a Late Breakfast (grill), but it turned into a late Sunday Dinner.

Went here this evening, the Wainwrights was bostin'. The screaming child a couple of tables away less so.
Food was decent enough at the price and you get the feeling it would be consistent day in and day out. Doing what they know, not special but would never let you down.
Fancy trying the Sunday lunch sometime.

I've done the Sunday lunch once, I'm much more inclined to attend on the weekday afternoons.

I have attended on early weekday evenings a couple of times.

So, in an effort to actually get something out of this government, I attended here today, it being one of the places that matters most to me in the area.

It would be difficult to do it any better than it is being done - at no point was I ever within 2 metres of any customer.

Their general demographic is at the doddery end anyway, so they're fairly determined not to lose any...

The nearest point to a potentially fatal incident was me nearing the top of Sandon Bank, having found that the bike here won't drop down from the biggest ring on the front.

An enormous amount of work has been done, whilst things were quiet, although it's improved the place without destroying the general character.
