Today is my "Changeover Day" - the day I get my summer clothes down from the loft and pack away my winter clothes. I could probably have done this about 6 weeks ago (and probably would have done 10 days or so ago had we still been going to Croatia), but, as they say, "Ne'er cast a clout ....".

I feel I haven't grown up yet as I don't do this (my mum always did). My shorts live in the chest of drawers alongside my jeans, and t shirts and jumpers are 4 seasons.

I don’t do it either @Lucy

Because we quite often take winter holidays it’s not uncommon for me to need my shorts and swimwear in October or January.
Also because it can be blooming freezing sometimes in England in summer, I quite often reach for a jumper.
So like you, all my clothes live side by side all year round.

I made the mistake of keeping all my summer clothes in the camper van!

With all this nice weather during lock down I've had to streak to the van inconspicuously to grab the shorts I need!

On another note I'm trying to lighten my hair with lemon juice and sunshine! So far I'm just sticky and have attracted a few wasps - will let you know how it goes!

Some t-shirts I only wear in summer, some only in winter. Winter's mostly polo shirts.

Anyway, while I was sorting out my wardrobe, Mrs Mikinton was making facemasks. (Guess which one's mine, made from a no longer needed winter t-shirt.)

I do this too, but only cos we have a very small house and my clothes take up a good 3/4 of the built in wardrobe.... I also do this with shoes, as a bit of an Imelda Marcos when it comes to footwear.

There are always those really loved items that go across seasons to that don't get packed away, and some 'just in case'...

I have a daughter.

I'd actually have enough space if it weren't for half of the wardrobe being taken up with her clothes. (She doesn't actually live with us, but we look after her "stuff" while she's off gallivanting round the world.) I'm also not very good at getting rid of what are essentially unwanted shirts - usually birthday or Christmas presents. ("Yeah, there's nothing wrong with it. Who knows, I might wear it one day.")

This is exactly why I can keep all of my clothes out and my husband can’t.

I’m not a hoarder but my husband is.
I only keep clothes that I like and what I need.

So for example. I only own 4 pairs of shorts. My husband owns 35, half of which he hasn’t even worn.

My stuff goes to charity on a regular basis (well not now, obviously, but before) husband keeps things “just in case”.

We don’t argue about much, but I do get cross with him when he keeps stuff that he’ll never wear when someone else could be getting use out of it.

He did, in the winter, after me nagging him donate some winter stuff, but we’ve now got all his summer stuff taking up space.

I did a house moved for some friends in the 90s.

After genuinely moving three decent-sized vanfuls of her clothes, I asked him if he had any clothes at all, other than what he was wearing.

"Yes, this is mine", he said, handing me a cardboard box of about two cubic feet in capacity.

Also, someone that I don't see so often now, but used to see once or twice a week, was notable for never being seen in the same clothing twice, even I noticed this, and it still goes on after fifteen years.

@Carole About 4 weeks before we go on holiday, my wife will always say to me "Are you going to get something nice to wear on holiday?" , and I feel obliged to buy something, usually a shirt, but sometimes a pair of shorts. It's difficult to "wear out" shifts and shorts if you only ever wear them when the temperature goes about 25 degrees, hence they tend to accumulate.

Having studied all the above posts carefully, I've come to a conclusion.

I'm a SLOB !!
Me too Bob. Me too.
Conversation with @littleme yesterday, I have a total of around 6 pairs of shoes, 1 pair is for work, 1 pair I wear to go shopping in.
I do have about 200 tops of which I only normally wear 5, obviously in rotation, not all at once.
My big downfall is cardigans, even when they've washed funny and shrunk, I can still wear them to go work in. I have about 20 of those.

Hi welcome to the club house have a seat on our comfy sofa, just move that pile of books over, The kettles on, or there is booze in the table top fridge next to you. Biscuits and crisps are on top. You can't have nuts yet, I've got some but I lost them when I put them ''somewhere safe''...

I don't have many clothes and my summer wardrobe is the same as my winter wardrobe. I'm going to have to buy a pair of jeans this year as I'm down to 1 pair (that's the only trousers I have apart from 2 pairs of PJ bottoms) My other pair were the victim of getting soaked in the rain, them clinging to me and an unfortunate attempt to get into/out of a metro cab with a knackered ankle and a bad back. Something had to give and it was my jeans lol.

My greatest transition is from winter to summer trousers, that occurred in early April this year, when my exile in The Chalet ended.

A week or two later, the secondary shift, from long to short sleeved shirts, happened,

There is a third part of the transition, but this can ebb forwards and backwards, as the weather dictates - I alternate between more, or less, threadbare jumpers, depending upon the level of insulation required.
