I walked the lake slowly this morning and using Seek I spotted some Foxgloves and Red Campions !!

When I got back to the car, two men in white coats were waiting. "Excuse me sir, " they said. "We've had reports you've been lurking in the bushes and taking photographs."

"I am now one of the plant people," I replied.

I'm now lawyering up and later today hope to get out of this cell (which for some reason has cushions for walls.)

It is mildly addictive, when I first downloaded it I spent two days even checking plants I already knew just for the hell of it, barmy I know.
Oh my goodness that’s exactly what I’m doing. Lol! Then I’m smiling and nodding in agreement with the app. I need to get out more!

It tells me all the ones that I already know, but the ones I don't are all dicots! Not sure what I doing wrong.

Yeah, my garden seems to be overrun with the twin embryonic leaved buggers.
At one of my many schools, some people got quite amused by the sound of "dicotyledon" and it became a much used term of mild abuse.

I remember a (non-biology) teacher moaning at some lad about some inconsequential nonsense and another lad defending him with "Be fair, Sir, he's always been a bit of a dicotyledon".

The poor bloke clearly had no idea what was going on, but was not going to reduce his authority by asking...

I ran three fallow plots last year, as I was only here in short bursts. Being here for three months now, I only really need two, so I've let one (and the filled in cold frame) grow what turns up. I've had one quick weeding purge, leaving a few unidentified items to see what they do.

In terms of weeds, as @Lucy refers to above, the fallow plots are full of seeds, but stuff gets turned in just when it has expended its reserves and that seems to be a successful strategy. The three plots, one fallow rotation is highly recommended.

Tranquility have a plant swap for charity on saturday. 11am I believe. Take plants to donate and buy with proceeds to a childhood cancer charity* the name of which escapes me!

* Childhood Cancer Parents Alliance.

Edit - Charity name added.

I’m after a bit of Hot poker advice.
I’ve bought a few in tubs. Do these spread? Should I plant them in clusters of 3 or singularly?

I've only ever managed to kill them off, they need dry soil I think, and you can spread them by dividing them, I think they do spread, but not vastly.

Thanks @littleme
I’m pretty much a gardening novice. I was wondering where people went for their plants. I’ve been having mine delivered by https://www.facebook.com/NeilYemmHorticulture/
And https://www.facebook.com/coppiceplantsbroseley/

I can recommend both for quality and service.
I like Johnson Hall Nursery, it's a walled garden in Eccleshall, family owned, the prices are really good & the staff are really friendly and knowledgeable.

The are open now, we went about a week ago. They also have a stall at Stafford Common Carboot (when it's on).

... The only downside, don't expect any frills, - there's no cafe or tearoom, and there is only 1 single outhouse type toilet with lots of very large spiders, there is a little bird that flies in through the broken window and scares the life out of you as it's nest is in a beem directly above the loo...

.... but, all the other good things make up for that :) I much prefer it to the branded garden centres.

They also have a nursery on Bury Bank just outside Stone ST15 0QA.
Handy for you @peggy would be Bloomsburys on the A41 about 4 miles from Newport in the Wolverhampton direction, also family owned.

Just a thought on the above, next door to Bloomsburys is a garage come junk emporium if that sort of thing floats yer boat. I picked up some really old large terracotta plant pots there quite cheaply last year.
