The Moat House.

Hothatch

A few posts under my belt
This maybe a little long for my first post but the reason I joined the forum was to let @ChrisLewis know how we got on at one of his hotels.
It was our 17th wedding anniversary yesterday and so decided to treat ourselves with a night away, waking up in luxury on our anniversary.

We chose The Moat House as we have previously eaten there many times and thoroughly enjoyed it although we have never stayed overnight before.
From the moment we checked in we felt special. Our room was comfy and spacious and as we were too late for the restaurant we made the most of room service and had a delicious mid afternoon sandwich which kept us going until dinner at 8.45pm.
The food we ate was just delectable, melt in the mouth and so flavoursome, however, it was our wine waiter Dan and Elliot (Manager I think) who gave us the best service we could ask for. Dan is a young man who obviously enjoys his job. His wine knowledge is great and he was enthusiastic without being overpowering. The champagnes he suggested were spot on and worth every penny. I know he is being paid for doing his job however, he gave the impression he actually cared which in turn made us feel special.
Elliot made it clear he hoped we had a good evening and ensured everything went smoothly. A really pleasant chap who was running the 10K on Sunday so we really hope it went well for him.
We were not rushed and we were last to leave the restaurant at 11.45pm!

We slept extremely well in the super kingsize bed and breakfast was delicious and enjoyable with the beautiful surroundings. We left a tip when we checked out and although we wish we could have left more I feel the best way of singing the praises of the staff is to let the Boss man know what an amazing job they are doing.
If I had the teeniest criticism it would be that I was a little cold when we first checked into our room and I couldn't see any way of turning up the temperature of the heater in the room.
Thank you all for a wonderful stay.

Popped to the MoatHouse in the week, for a meal in the bar ordered at 6.15 food arrived 7.05. Not once were we approached to say sorry for you wait. At 7 oh enquired where the food was, was told it was on the way, still no apology. Didn't stay for dessert didn't fancy the wait, Went to pay the waitress said once AGAIN we apologise for the long wait, which was quite strange as we never had any apology all evening.
Staff not as friendly as their other establishments, didn't see any of the food waiting staff smile once, accept one, when the bill was delivered!

I lost my Nan recently and today was her funeral. Afterwards we had booked a function room at the Moat House for everyone and I would like to thank @ChrisLewis and the team for everything, excellent service, lovely food, everything just as we’d booked for. Spot on! Thanks to the lovely staff for making a very very hard day just that little bit easier.

The Moat House was mentioned in Parliament today by our MP Theo Clarke, in response to Boris Johnson's announcement, regarding the further relaxation of Coronavirus restrictions. Boris also accepted her invitation to visit Stafford for a pint.

Alexander has been here before, evidence exists, though his controversial statement that the EU had somehow outlawed buying more than four/five bananas at a time lives on only as a 'fade-in' now, and more fulsome in the memory of those that can be discredited now.

Actually, if you listen to the ^ you'll hear the heckling - 'what about the wizards?' - that lead to the banana claim. It would be interesting if someone could find the unedited version, because out of the blue you genuinely hear someone shout BANANAS from the crowd, to which de Pfeffel starts his customary waffle about 'absurd' EU laws making it "illegal" to buy bananas in bunches larger than "four or five".

He said that, i remember him doing so. Then you voted to leave the EU, and then to make him Prime Minister.

Still, things are going as expected.

I know I'm old, but just don't understand why girls have to do all the screaming and a wooping when a song/ indecipherable bit of noise comes on. 1 of the bridesmaids sounded like she was in labour half the night, skinny biatch wasn't, just sounded like it.
