Places of worship you say? So why can't I take my seat at Old Trafford at the moment? :)

Belted one of my toes on the bath handle last night while fighting with the shower rail. So bad, youngest crawled out of his pit to see what I was moaning at.
Anyhows, long story short, my poor toe is now black as the ace of spades today. Int broken tho.

Suffering.

I've had bad back pain since last October, the tablets prescribed make me vomit (codeine), but with physiotherapy I thought I was on top of controlling it (excersizes, paracetamol, ibuprofen).

Seems not, I've got as a few days off work, been really lazy and i am now back to agony...

I've got deep heat patches stuck all over me, but anyone else have any other suggestions to help, other than the obvious hot bath, painkillers, deep heat.... It would be much appreciated....

Is it lower or upper? The only thing that stops my sciatica, which stems from my lower back, is moving all the time.

It's about a palm width above the waistline, and very very slightly to the right. Feels like someone us constantly pushing a fist into my back at an angle.

Original diagnosis was sciatica, but (micats over the phone) think its mechanical. (?), I usually manage about 15 - 20,000 steps at work on an average day, but I've had a few days off & been a sloth, only hitting 4,000 at the most, which I think is to blame, my own fault....

Consider your seating arrangements at home...

Try to do without painkillers if you can, they mask the pain & can let you do things you maybe shouldn’t do & you can do more damage without realising. The pain is there for a reason.
I’ve had similar back pain to you for years & after various treatments etc it seems it’s just something I’ll have to live with (unless I want my.vertebrae fusing together, which can lead to other problems). like @Lucy, I find keeping moving & gentle bending/stretching is the most effective. When my back first “went” I was told to rest as much as possible, that’s the worst possible scenario for me.
Lower Back pain can be so debilitating & everyone is different. Keep trying different things till you find something that works for you but be prepared, now you’ve got it you’ll probably have it on & off for a long time so bear it in mind when bending/lifting etc.
I hope you’re feeling better soon.
P. S. Try a chiropractor. Stafford Chiropractic we’re very good for me but I haven’t been for several years. They were at Walton just behind the old Walton garage.

Try deep freeze instead of deep heat.

I've got arthritis in two of my discs and deep heat has no affect on the pain when my back is hurting but deep freeze does ease the pain.

It also works when my hips are painful.

I'm not sure what the difference is between deep heat and deep freeze but it seems to work for me and the latter doesn't smell as bad as deep heat.

I get a bit of leg ache which I'm pretty sure is a hangover from old motorcycle accidents of long ago. Broken femur in left leg, which resulted in three months in traction which screwed up the knee. Shattered knee cap in right leg which resulted in removal of patella (thus destroying a promising career of winning knobbly knee contests on Blackpool Beach for evermore.) Both knees been giving me stick in recent years so I decided to try one of these foot electrical shock machines by which you electrocute yourself for half an hour every day at an intensity you can set yourself. It doesn't hurt unless you crank it up high which they tell you not to do, until you get used to it.

It also has external stick on pads to electrocute various other parts of the body and I'm using those on my lower back as that gets a bit twitchy as well. Been doing it a month now and still not sure if it works although I would say it feels better after a session. But they advise keep at it for at least 12 weeks and progress should be observed.

So every day I do a passable imitation of James Cagney being dragged to the electric chair in 'Angels with Dirty Faces.' I should add that for me too movement as described above is essential. Too much time sitting down and I stiffen up. At least if your being electrocuted while sitting down you muscles are jumping about.

(Bzzzzzzt !!! POP !!! BANG !!! ... shit, the shillings gone in the meter. :P )

Thank you @Lucy @Gramaisc @EasMid @BobClay and @Thehooperman for the advice

@EasMid I think you're defiantly right, I think the pains been much worse over the last few days as I've been so lazy and had nowhere near the amount of excercise that I usually get.

@BobClay is that a tens machine that you have? (scared to ask after seeing all that electrical equipment behind the Dr Who door)

@Thehooperman thanks for the suggestion about Deep freeze, I have tubes full of the stuff somewhere as it's the only thing that works on my tendinitis, so I'll give that a go.

I do quite like the smell of deep heat though! :xd:

I got an email from the Gatehouse to re-schedue the Henning Wehn show on March 19th. It included the following message from Henning:

Dear Friends Of German Comedy,

You might have expected this email.

I regret to inform you that all upcoming performances of the Get On With It tour have been postponed. For the time being it’s very much a case of Not Getting On With It.

The current outbreak of hysteria combined with the Prime Minister’s suggestion to lock yourself away for good, have sadly left the theatres in no position to remain open.

Every effort is made to reschedule the shows for August/September. Just don’t expect to go to a restaurant before or a pub after the show, as they’ll all be out of business by then.

Ah well, never mind, there’ll always be an England.

Really sorry once again and we’ll meet again. Don’t know where, don’t know when, but I know we’ll meet again some sunny day.

Stay safe and enjoy your time off!

Henning
Just had an email from the Gatehouse, our rescheduled Henning Wehn tickets (20th September) are being cancelled again, its not clear if its another re-schedule, or a cancel, they've said another email will follow with more details, and an opportunity to ask for a refund.

I had emailed asking how I go about having a refund a few weeks ago, as I still don't feel safe or happy about attending at the moment.

*edit I think @Carole & someone else, also had tickets... If anyone remembers who...

Yes I’ve got tickets but they haven’t contacted me about it, but we wouldn’t sit in a packed theatre either.

They contacted me about Giovanni Pernice, rescheduled until next May, but there’s loads of events that I had in the diary over the last few months but I’ve heard nothing from the Gatehouse at all.
