Agree, spoons profit from this which is a shame. The mcdonald's idea sounds better as its also pre packaged. What a great idea particularly as people aren't going out as much now and those that do aren't necessarily carrying spare change to donate to the homeless these days.
Its just a shame it's the government that pays the difference and not Wetherspoons.

Basil,All venues big or small will need to attract customers to survive. ...
Finally made the most of the scheme and went out to a local pub last night!
Which pub?
Sorry - I'm in Warrington!
But if you ever fancy visiting this shithole I very much recommend the Parr Arms: http://theparrarms.co.uk/
I can confirm Warrington town centre is officially the shittest of all shitholes in the world
A work colleague, when I was based in Crewe, used to live in Warrington and kept trying to tempt us to a night out in said "shithole". We went a few times and then reverted to my suggestions of Nantwich or Manchester.

I don't recall the Parr Arms so is it new or out of the town centre somewhere?
I see it has improved somewhat since I knew it in the 1970s & 80s
At least the food’s cheap eh?I've just called into Thawa Bridge for an impromptu takeaway and Abdul advised me that he is doing the Eat Out to Help Out half price food on Wednesdays in September and October.
Sounds good to me
