OK, what of its cooked in the slow cooker? Was the carers stew really a casserole? It had white wine in, does that make a difference?Traditionally a casserole is cooked in the oven and a stew is cooked on the stove top (I think).

A casserole in the oven has the heat distribution all around whereas a stew on the stove top has the heat coming from the underneath only.
Therefore, something done in the slow cooker with all round heat distribution would be classed as a casserole (I think).
