I took the decision to open it, (felt very dodgy) to get a name initially thought it'll just get sent back here or end up in the bin, as there's nothing else like that around here in stafford, had a feeling it was the wrong name or someone has really ballsed it up and it's in scotland or something.

Thankfully it was addressed to the family

I don't really know how it's possible to do that, but oh well! I feel sorry for the poor postman/delivery in general they must get the blame sometimes for others mistakes..

To be fair it's a relative you only hear from, via a card at christmas, you know the type

Son & Daughter in law from hell have a friend who is a Postwoman, She was telling me about her day once, They need a degree in how to read shite writing for a start, then the patience of Jobe for all the wrongly addressed letters and parcels they have to attempt to deliver.
I'll stick to me patients, I might get hit several times a day. but at least I can deal with that.

Mrs T who is often referred to as Hyacinth by those who know us once received a birthday card addressed to Mrs Bucket, Woodseaves.
My older sister (2yrs and 7months older - 60 next year!) is known as Bucket. Only because the younger one can't spell Hyacinth!

Sometimes things like that can be caused by something as simple as somebody talking to you about the other person, whilst you are trying to write the address..?

When I was doing my Sparky's ticket at Nautical College a lecturer was going over the use of phonetic pronunciation of numbers via radio telephony in very bad reception conditions, as show below.
He asked me when I would use these pronunciations.
'Never,' I replied.
'Why not ?' he asked.
'Because if I started talking like that I'd probably get pregnant,' I answered. (Fortunately he saw the joke.)

Not happy! Been taking loads of neighbours parcels in for weeks now. Went for a walk at 5pm , only to get back to a note off the Postie. Tried delivering a parcel with my post after 5pm (place ordered from hadn't notified it had been despatched as they had promised to) and now taken back to the sorting office . Yet all the neighbours were in when we went out and still in

Mention on previous posts about posties not being able to read peoples writing. I can't read his scribble of a reference number !

Don't take parcels in ever again for any of your neighbours. Simples.

I did stop for a few years after a previous neighbour took the p1ss having numerous deliveries most days and either wasn't in, or was "too busy to answer the door". But when new neighbours moved in I thought I'd be neighbourly.....learnt my lesson now!

Annoyed that I paid extra for guaranteed next day delivery , so that once notified of despatch (said after 11th) I could wait in by the window watching for it. No notification and the postie chose today of all days to deliver the post on the twilight shift. Been someone in all day and the rest of the week, just chose that one half hour to have a walk around the block looking at the xmas lights

Now just hoping when I get home from the sorting office tomorrow, that I did the uploading photos to put on the present right ! Only took me about an hour to (hopefully) fathom out how to do it

Whenever I read your posts about neighbours it makes me grateful for the fact I no longer have them.

It'd be towards the end of a very long day rather than "on the twilight shift".

Yep, the normal autumn pressure that Royal Mail resource up for is one thing, having millions of extra parcels because of the pandemic is quite another.

We have a different post person this week, I'm hoping the usual guy isn't sick.

I don't understand this mail backlog and shit service. An idiot could work out that the shops being closed and Christmas upcoming would lead to an increase in online shopping. How did royal mail not manage to prepare even in the slightest. More staff, that sort of thing? Sent a parcel first class recorded last Saturday. Still not arrived to London.

250,000th poster!
There is always Yan, Tan, Tethera ... Why both Mrs Noah & I (from somewhat urban areas of Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire respectively) were taught how to count sheep at school is something of a mystery
Yan, Tan, Tethera comes from Northumbria.... Very strange. 19 is my favourite number (Metherabumfitt).

They always recruit for Christmas. The shops weren't shut at the end of October. You can't just recruit and train someone in next to no time.
