Does anyone know..?......Just ask a question.

... why this grill pan is not symmetrical?

I decided to clean it today and noticed the offset notch for the first time - there is also a small lump to the left of the handle, but the the long notch is very deliberate.

It's from a 25-year-old Parkinson Cowan "Astoria", although, being jetted for LPG, it is branded as a Calor product.

There's also the two holes at the far side, but I (originally) put them down to being hangers for the stove enamelling.

1, It's not from the Shed cooker. The cooker in question has an eye-level grill.

2, Yes, I have considered that I may have had a stroke or some sort of seizure.

3, I found an online manual for the cooker that was of no use at all in unravelling the mystery. It may be that it's a common part with other cookers that do have a reason for it..?
Does the handle come off??

Ours slides along and can be removed on the thinner part?

Our old eye level grill used to have one where you had to slide the detatchable handle along to the middle from a thinner part as well.

The handle is attached by two nuts to a welded bracket - immovable, unless something breaks.

The handle has to stay in one place, as it has a piece on the bottom that protrudes into a hole on the plate the grill pan rests on, when it's under the grill, to locate it securely in the correct place.

Could it be a “universal” fitting. We had a Creda cooker with a similar grill pan but the handle was detachable. The handle fitted into the notch on the right & slid to the left & located at the lump by the centre.

Can't find them on Perry's website (it was the first place I looked).
I asked them and they said -

We do! They’re homemade here in the premises. I have a batch that need cooking so you’re more than welcome to pop down tomorrow to get some. Or we can save you some back so you can cook them at home? Hope this helps, Hannah

Phew, I considered whether or not to warn Steve that a Geordie might burst in demanding flesh...
No, but he possibly thinks that I'm a poor deprived wife....

The carer went to Perrys to buy us a treat (wedding anniversary tea), the carer does not like faggots so bought himself a fillet steak*, the butcher asked 'are you sure you only want one steak'? 'Yes' said the carer, 'she can have faggots'. Apparently his face was a picture.

*I do not like steak.

Willenhall faggots were wrapped in caul, the proper way.
That's the way they should be, although we found some yesterday where the caul was stretched over the top of a tray of 4 faggots instead of around them, I suppose so you can remove it if you don't like it. No idea about Perrys, but they were delicious.
