Who's had a rubbish day?

My day was more than rubbish. Had a patient to threaten to punch my lights out this morning, myself and a colleague were attempting to get him washed and dressed. Poor soul has dementia so isn't in the position to understand what is happening. We managed after a fashion get him done and down to the lounge.

Bit later on, there's a few of us in the office, Ward clerk says there's too many people in there, should be a maximum of three at any time. One of the Doctors turnsa to me and says that I'm the biggest and am taking up more room! Realised what he'd said immediately, but the damage was done, I was welling up.

I went into the lounge and repeated what had just been said, and the person i'd got the patient up with earlier said that it was true. That really pissed me off. Then me and same bloke were in the clinical room were putting the blood bottles into individual envelopes ready go up the County, and the converstion got round to people not working, he then goes on to say that he's heard some mention that i'm quite lazy and only do what I have to! Then he says - '' they call me lazy too, but that's just so wrong''! Honestly I could have twatted him so hard, but I'd get the sack.
Eventually corned one of the nurses in the back office and asked him if he thought I was lazy, telling him why. He just laughed, said dunna be so daft and to ignore said twat. I leave that ward most days thinking no-one likes me, I don't need to hear they think i'm lazy too.

It's really not acceptable the way they are talking about you. I'm so sorry.
It's ok duck. Water off a ducks back. I've heard worse.
I have zero confidence in myself and admit I have a serious negative outlook on life. But to be told that by the utmost laziest bloke on the planet takes the biscuit x

It's still not fair and perpetuates the lack of self confidence. I am sure that the patients (or at least the relatives of them) know you are great.

@Glam

I’m totally shocked that in a working environment that people would speak to each other like that. It’s just awful.
Common sense and decency should be enough for most people to treat others the way they want to be treated themselves.

For a doctor to come out with a comment like that is just beyond unprofessional.

Hugs to you.

Thank you. I think he was joking, because he appeared to be mortified afterwards. Him I can put up with.
My so called work colleague, no. He told one of the girls she would look a lot nicer if she lost 3 to 4 stone and did something with her hair.

I know I have a weight problem, but mentally I am not in any place to do anything about it at the moment. Personally I think I shall be speaking to the ward manager over the weekend x

As everyone said, those comments were awful and out of order. Hope you're OK!

Doesn't sound like it's the same situation (and only relates to part of your post), but I have a 96 year old nan with advanced dementia in a care home and I have nothing but respect for the people who care for them, it must be such a difficult job.

Enjoying a drop of red.

Just spread a rumour about him that's even worse.

Or twat him when you're off duty and see him outside work.

Thank you all xx
As I said, it's water off a ducks back. And I'm sure there's others on here that have had the shittiest day ever, who won't mention it. xx

Or, send him over to me & I'll twat him.

Hope you're ok @Glam, what horrible things to say. Just remember you're always more than welcome over at mine, most days you're the only bit if sunshine I get to see & I truly appreciate you & our giggles/bitching

Even if they’re joking it’s sexist bullying, your manager should sort this & if not threaten to take it higher. Is insulting someone because of their size classed as hate crime?
If that doesn’t work you could (dare I say it) twat the twat, or at least “help” him down the stairs when your behind him.
As others have said, this sort of behaviour shouldn’t be sllowed anywhere especially in the work place. I really hope you’re ok, you shouldn’t be made to feel bad for doing your job.

I'm fine, it feels good to have had a rant.
I will complain, i'm not the first whos size he's commented on. Whereas I will make a joke about it, he's just vile and personal.x

@Glam hope you’re ok? You need to try and document stuff like this, in case it escalates, what was said and when and who heard it too. Even if you don’t end up needing it, at least you have a record if you ever do. It’s not ok, it’s harassment and bullying.

Is this type of bullying and harassment worse in the NHS? … I'm also regularly the victim of slander, lies made up solely to defame and negatively impact about my character and ability to do my job. It's exhausting and soul
destroying.

I don't understand the motivation of anyone whose only aim in life is to lie and cause distress to others :(

And nothing can be done officially when the person slandering me is a senior manager :(

Hugs @Glam
